World Cosplay Sumit in NYC at New York Anime Festival, Dec. 2007

Hi,

I’ve been dying to tell you this for months, but of course I had to wait for the ink to dry. The World Cosplay Summit will be returning to the United States. The American preliminaries will be held at New York Anime Festival.

While participation in the WCS is not mandatory for those who wish to be in the regular costume contest. I hope to see many of you competing for a chance to take place in the international exhibition.

There will be some additional rules for those who chose to also participate in the World Cosplay Summit preliminaries in addition to the rules of the regular masquerade.

The World Cosplay Summit Championships are competitions between two-man teams. If a group enters the Anime Insider and World Cosplay Summit Masquerade with more than two members, they must select which two will go on to be Team USA in the Championships when they submit their application. These two members…

· MUST be 18 or older.
· MUST be citizens of the United States.
· MUST be available to travel to Japan

Groups must have at least two members to be in the running for Team USA.

For more information about NYAF, the WCS or our many other cosplay event please visit: www.nyanimefestival.com

New York Anime Festival will be December 7th-9th

Based on the large number of applicants NYAF has recived for other cosplay acctivities. I recomned that you apply for acceptance to the contest before the convention.

The WCS paperwork will be up shortly.

Wait, I was the person who suggested this through their forums. This is a rumor until Mr. Peter Tartara and Reed Exhibitions say something about this. If it does happen, you can praise me or blame me for suggesting it. If it happens, this may make me go to NYAF.

Yes, this year Dec 2007.

B/c of the short notice we have retracted the rule about the costume not having won a major award at a previous convention.

Things should be a little smother in years to come.

DD, you should probably throw out the fact that you're pretty high up on the NYAF Masq. food chain, and worked your ass off to make this happen and made sure that you, an American cosplayer, had more say as how things are going to down this time around, before slap-asses question you're credibility.
Also, take a bow girl, you've earned it.

<-- NYAF/Anime Insider Masquerade Judge, nothing more, nothing less.

Hmm… How is this going to work? Is it a separate event or tied into the masquerade and costume contest which have already been announced for NYAF? Just wondering because I was thinking of entering one of those but am not interested in the WCS. ^_^;

Thank you Starwind. Both Peter and I have been working very hard to give American coplayers the opportunity to participate in the WCS, and also to protect the interests of those cosplayers.

I will be acting as arbitrator between the WCS and the participants during the preliminaries. I understand that the applicants will have allot of questions and concerns, and the NYAF staff will be here to assist you.

Good question.

While the WCS and the Stage Competition will be run as one continuous event, you will not be required to participate in both. Instead you may chose to be considered for the WCS in addition to the regular masquerade.

There will be an additional form a participant would have to fill out to be considered for the World Cosplay Summit.

I should clarify that the WCS preliminaries hosted at NYAF are to chose the American delegation to the main World Cosplay Summit that will be held in Japan. As such only American citizens will be eligible for consideration.

DD, we should also point out that all entries MUST be 18 years of age and over, and LEGAL AMERICAN CITIZENS.

Helpful Starwind is helpful.
