Final Fantasy XII 2008 group

Ok, I'm organising a Final Fantasy XII group.
So far, we have:
Fran: Asha-Morgan
Vaan: Asha-Morgan's friend
Balthier: my costume which I need to find someong to wear it.
Judge Gabranth: me
Larsa: Annie-Waru
Ashe: VLC
Penelo: Twenty_two

There is many other characters to fill in: Basch, Vayne Solidor, Cid, other judges, Rasler... or anything else you want to do.

Let me know if you want to join.

I want to get the group done for Manifest 2008 and Supanova Sydney 2008 (I can't enter many comps since I'm organising SMASH and ANIMANIA so I can't enter in those).

The one question I'm dying to know the answer to:

How on earth will you get your Gabranth armor AND weapons to Melbourne? XD I'm sure a plane trip fully armored is out of the question (though it would make -the- most spectacular plane trip. ever.)

hehe, have a look at my other costumes in my profile. See Totoro? It flew to Melbourne. So did my Saint Seiya armour at the same time. The previous year I drove to Manifest with my mog costume. This year I went with both my Balthier costume and Ryuuoh, which has a huge sword. I manage to get everything there in one piece and never get to pay extra.

Asha I'm so disappointed I didn't get to see you as Seymour on Sunday @__@ My favorite FFX character ;O; And you had such an awesome wig <3

Next year we'll both crossplay, since I get to be a 12 year old boy again XD

And to keep OT, I may have a tentative Penelo and Ashe ^__^

Woot, two more!! Keep me updated if you need help/advise.

For the paint on material, I think there is nothing better than fabric paint, available at Lincraft and spotlight. Let me know how it goes.

Not sure what you mean, but here are some photos.
Usually, before starting anything, I use google image to get all the photos I can get of the character (back and front photos if possible) and then I try to find photos of cosplayers that made this costume, to work out how they did it and improve on it. I find most people are very good at one part of the costume, and others at other parts, so if you take the best of 10 costumes, you will have the best costume yet.

It seems to me that Penelo's outfit contains a lot of carved leather (brown and yellow parts at least). If you have money and time, take a leather craft class. That's what I did with Balthier. Everything in my Balthier costume is leather, carved and dyed myself.
If you can't afford that, then try fake leather, and cutting patterns and sticking them on top of each other to recreate the pattern. If that is still too expensive, you'll have to use fabric, but it won't look very good, and will look cheap.

heh heh, i'd love to take a leather class, the gold bits of ashes dress are gonna be hell...
where could you do soemthing like that?
I tried some paints, but they just seem to spread too much and soak through so you dont get a bold colour, it goes all see through and stuff...im thinking i may have to sew on ribbons, but the dots im not sure what to do, but i've asked a whole bunch of cosplayers that already did it and am waiting diligently for their replies!

As much as I hate to say this, but I don't know if I will be able to afford this costume [heck even the trip to manifest] anymore [unless I get a well paying job]. I'm going to be having a lot of doctors bills to pay and I am moving out of home so yes...with all that I doubt I'll have the money >.> I'm sorry.
