Heh, my family and I were in Baltimore during Otakon weekend this past July. It took me a half hour to explain to them what they do at these conventions and why they dress up (we saw someone cosplaying as Mana, she said "that's a pretty costume" O_O!). My (older, but not necessarily wiser
) sister was buggin' out about the cosplayers. She's like "if you go to that THING (referring to AXNY/BAAF as some sort of a 'pest') next month, you'll become a weirdo freak like all these other people walking around."
O.O ::blink blink:: OMGWTF!!!1
Not. even. true!
I cannot believe she had the audacity to say something like that! After she said this, I started to cry. Loud. Like Pedro from "Excel Saga" would say, "My tears are flowing like waterfalls!!!"
She's the type of person who won't give anything remotely interesting a chance. She's too busy listening to *Nsync (oh the horror! the horror!!! - no offense to any *Nsync fans in here, heh! ^_^; )
You know what the crazy thing about this whole thing is? My mom offered to take me to Otakon, because I kinda "hinted" at it, and she was like "If you wanna go, I'll take you."
Well, you could have knocked me over with a GD feather. My own mother actually offered to take me to Otakon! And I was like "No....are you serious!?!?" and she said "We'll see what happens."
In the end, I didn't get to go to Otakon (however I *did* get to go into the baltimore convention center to look at the cosplayers and stuff, so that is about as close as I got to Otakon.)
Am I kicking myself for this?
You bet your a-double-crooked-letter I am.
