Silent Hill

Hello, I have made a costume of a 'bubble head' nurse from Silent Hill. I'm not quite sure how to do makeup to go with this costume...anyone have a suggestion?

Does anyone have screencaps from the movie for this? I can't remember how they did it...

Many people just do the head wrapped in gauze and a bit of fake blood. Also a head-stocking have been used.

I feel you're pain, im being something from Silent Hill as well and need some make up tips although the character im playing is from the 3rd game and I have to work with make up that makes me look completely burnt, blood and messed up in generally, im going for a sort of rotting image to simliar to the nurses but mixed with other stuff and mostly black and red colours.

(The character im being is my avatar, so I'd have to something like that, although in different pictures the make up varies in light to darker colours.)

I cant really use any sort of gauze/bandage to cover my face so I thought I would try to achieve a rotting effect using pale foundation base and adding veins and a bruising effect. I'm going to practice it tonight, hopefully I'll manage to make it look reasonable!

You know if you can't and don't liek the idea of the gauze/bandage on you're face you could go as an SH 3 nurse which don't have anything covering there face really but blood and gore, there generally a more simple version of the bobble head nurse from the SH movie and SH2 game. I have seen people create masks for SH 2 bobble head nurses that generally work, I think its just a hard frame with covering, paint and a lot of detail and make up.

what about using a full mask and then use paper mache to create the bubble effect...it may sound cheap but i dunno how else people make the bubble head.

That's generally how it its done I'd assume as I stated above the mask and the detail over top of it. Although I wonder how comfortable that is.. o.o?

If you don't want to do the bubblehead one, you could do one
of the ones from SH3. They have short black hair.

Something like this might work best...what I did with PyramidHead was I used black spandex, so that I could see out but you couldn't see in unless you got really close. I suggest doing this over the eyes, since some nurses from the movie have black areas where the eyes are, and then using a variety of fabrics, gauze, and paper-mache over the rest of the mask, then using a spraypaint primer over it before using acrylic to paint it.
For the cracks in the skin around the neck and chest, if you want to go the movie route a little, maybe a dark gray eyeliner and then use a strong, pale color of powder over it to secure it and make it stand out less obviously?

If you're just starting out and you're not allergic to latex, I suggest getting some cheap dipping-grade latex. Play with it. Experiment with it, and find cool methods that work for you. Mix it with random pieces of clothe. Saturate pieces of cotton swabs and sculpt it into something grotesque.

I simply tried saturating some beef clothe (a stretchy roller-gauze) with latex and it gave me this effect:

If you haven't had any weird reactions to the latex yet, and you don't have lots of body hair (emphasis) try painting some on your skin. Let it dry, then scratch away at it. Add some makeup and it can look like rotting/cracking skin:

(zoom in for extra nastiness)

For the veins... As previously stated, simple eyeliner works well. Laying down some pale/white makeup first and mixing that with other odd-color rotting skin colors will look great... I mean bad...

I just went as a SH nurse for Halloween. We host a huge party, so I needed to be able to see as well as have a relatively comfortable costume/mask since I would be wearing it for hours. I tracked down an old fencing mask and built on that. I painted the steel mesh white so it wouldn't show under the gauze and then wrapped the whole thing with gauze. I was careful to only have one layer over my eyes so I could still see. I had decent visibility and no one could see into the mask (even with camera flashes). Tracking down a fencing mask can be a pain, but you could make something similar if you wanted. In any case, you don't have to use makeup and the mask doesn't have to be uncomfortable. But it probably will be
