Kurama Wig
I am cosplaying Kurama and I was wondering if you guys think this wig http://cosworx.com/product.php?produ...at=2450&page=1 in henna red would look nice. The only problem I have is Kurama's spikes or the wierd shorter hairs that go up in the back. What ever you want to call them. I don't know if this wig has enough hair for them. My sister suggested getting some short hair-clip extensions and somehow styling them like that.

Kurama's hair is... odd, to say the least. I hate to say it, but if you go exact, you'll look funny.
http://www.pettingzoowigs.com/gallery/wig_kurama.html Katie Bair did it with two wigs... but extensions might work if they're sewn in properly. You want subtle spikes and curls instead of "daggers of hair" jutting out of the back of your head. A lot of cosplayers don't worry about the spikes and as long as your costume is a Kurama costume, no one should complain. Though if you really want to attempt it, I would definitely ask Katie her advice since hers is very close. |

I read what Katie Blair said to others. She just seemed to say she sewed them together. I saw Katie Blair's. Her's looks so nice.

Are you talking about how much she would charge for a Kurama wig? If so, it'd be around $170. However if you want to know how much the two wigs cost, it's probably around the $30-$40 range. Though you could always ask Katie personally to get a exact answer.

Basically, use the fullest base wig(s) you can find. The Angela 750 or Amphigory's femme fatale would probably end up being too short, but the Ashley 850 is just as full as the Angela 750 and about shoulder blade length.
Don't worry about the cut and wave of the wig - you'll have to do extensive styling anyway. Starting with a layered or pre-styled wig clearly limits your options. When using extensions instead of a second wig, keep in mind you need to match the color - preferably before you buy either the wig or extensions. Use the sellers' color charts, their color matching services, or Katie Bair's color chart (on the bottom of her page.) |

Umm okay so I got a wig that I'm going to use but I have no clue how to style it.... I know how to style my hair but I hear you can't use a straightening iron on a wig... So how the hell do I do his weird curls DX!

I am pretty sure Katie Blair doesn't style wigs for most people anymore...
Maybe I'll just get the wig I mentioned and mess with the back a little. Has anyone bought that wig before? Is it layered a little in the back?

Katie BAIR does not style character wigs as of right now, you're right. But you can post a question on her forums, she checks them everyday.
what i suggest is not to just get that wig, not because it's lazy but because it's far too long. if you could find a wig that has less length in the back, you'd be fine however. henna red is a good color choice too. if you're planning to go the no spike route, make sure you use hairspray to make the bangs really poofy! ^_^ (well with kurama, maybe poofy isn't quite right, that's more of an inu yasha thing. still, they need some volume). |

To curl the fiber, apply heat with a blow dryer on a low setting (heat the fiber for a few seconds and hold it in position until it's cool.) Most of Kurama's style, however, relies on hairspray. Set the hairspray with a blow dryer to make it semi-permanent (this is also way faster than letting it air dry.)

water + wig = no effect. (well your wig will be wet afterwards XD)
wigs are not real hair, you don't use water at all to style them. heat for permanently straightening or curling the fiber, and product (plain hairspray) for anything else. i suggest browsing through katie's site and her forums to learn a little more about wigs before you start styling your own. http://www.katiebair.com/tutorials.html |

Bair's wig is beautiful, but grossly expensive... What options are out there that aren't quite as ... pee-pants worthy?
