Female to male make up technique?
Please forgive me if there is already a topic about this, i did search, but this seems the post prudent place to put it.
I have a very high colour, my cheeks are bright red and the remainder of my skin is milky pale. I am cosplaying as Miles Edgeworth and i need to work on make up. How do you make female skin look like male skin? And is it worth attempting a hint of a stubble? |

I'm actually working on a crossplay, but I'm going to skip the stubble. Mainly because I'm not sure I can get myself to look male enough where the stubble won't look weird. As a last resort, people can think I'm a female version of Walter, even tho it's not what I'm going for =P

Here is a great thread on the Crossplay forum which explains various techniques you'll need to transform your face:
http://forums.cosplay.com/showthread...hlight=phantom Pale the lips, use highlights and shadows to accentuate your cheekbones and jawline, nasolabial fold, etc. The following is a link for basic straight stage makeup, which demonstrates how to apply and blend highlights and shadows: http://wwwnew.towson.edu/stagemakeup...wTo/index.html

I’m finally found a foundation makeup colour for my character that looks like he’s of Arab decent.
http://www.tikalnetwork.com/XemnasAvatar.jpg The foundation I’ve picked is tab bit lighter compared to the character due to the fact that I have very little colour myself so it’s more of a “Tan” shade. I know I’ll have to buy a dark brown eyeshadow or loose powder to get the lowlight colour right but what should I use for the highlight since I can’t seeing white blending that well.

White may indeed be fine so long as you apply only enough to make it work and blend it completely. I am a big fan of creme highlights/shadows: http://mallatts.com/commerce/catalog.jsp?catId=86
I've also used white eyeshadow and blended that, which was adequate. The creme highlights are much more effective, as expected.

Hey this thread has been really helpful but I have sort of a dilemma. This is my first time and I'm cosplaying as Tyki Mikk from D.gray man. Not only do I have to be gray but I'm suppose to look fairly masculine. I have a dark brown skin complexion and huge chipmunk cheeks. My picture is posted below.
Me My character is the guy in the middle with the top hat and silver belt. The man Tyki Video What makeup should I use to look like a convincing man? Any advice would be appreciated. Last edited by TeaNZane : 01-07-2008 at 02:43 AM. Reason: added video link |

I use black eyeshadow and put on pretty light and do a light dusting with powder over it to get the five o'clock shadow look. Or I do it for shading around my jaw to make it more square or under cheek bones to look more gaunt. Just practice with it
