So is cosplaying as Tsukasa (in game) considered crossplay? I mean, the (relatively) RL character was female, but "The World" character was male. I can't figure it out... @_@

If the character you're dressing up is the opposite sex as you, you're crossplaying. It doesn't matter if he/she turns into a male/female, he/she's player is your sex.. the actual character you're dressing up as is male, so you're crossplaying!

Another thing that get's people confused is when people cosplay someone who is crossdressing. If the actual person is a male, and you're female, you're crossplaying, even if the character you're crossplaying is crossdressing. ^^;

I being male would be cross play if I did his female character form...

No you would just be cosplaying a girl that had a male player character.

Same thing with Elk ^^ It IS a male character,though the -mun- is a girl.

It very much reminds me of myself.. I ALWAYS RP as male characters ^^;.. which is exactly why I'm doing Elk,and a few other things...like I got a hot-sexy Kite xD -nudges Eriku-sion-

While I haven't done a Tsukasa costume, I was Elk. I thought about going as Tsukasa though. ^_^;

I think it's a bit more blurred than that though. I don't see it as crossplay or not-crossplay. It's just a costume to me. ^^; Cause I mean, the body of Tsukasa's avatar may be a boy's body, but the player is a girl. If my parents asked who I was talking about I would refer to tsukasa as a she, even though I may be strapped down for the costume. But meh... It's just costume accuracy as far as I'm concerned, because I call Tsukasa an 'it' to everyone else. XD It's not like she was very sure of which she was herself, for half the series. ^_^;

Elk would be crossplay though, I think... he's a boy all the way. :P

Chrobat - That seems to be a popular thing... I've got a regular group (gaming group) that meets weekly and I am the only guy that plays a girl character on any basis, much less regular. My wife doesn't even play a girl character. ^_^ We've got one lady in our group who only plays females, but she just joined here recently (as recent as 4-6 months compared to the 3-4 years of the groups as a whole).

It's always been kinda odd to me that ppl would have trouble using their imagination to play a character of a different gender.

So, if a guy cosplayed Loran (turn A gundam) when he disguises himself as a girl, that wouldn't be crossplay? (not that I have any intention of doing that)

Nope. Loran is a guy, whether he crossdresses or not. ^^ So a guy cosplaying his is not crossplaying, just cosplaying a crossdressing male character.
