woohoo thread necromancy!

(a bit late) but I got to check out the first issue..it wasn't that bad. I thought the Mana photostory thing was cute. I couldn't help notice that most of the snapshots from Japan were indeed low in the lolita area, as well as the mini ads for various brands... the ratio of v-kei/punk to lolita was probably 2:1. It came off as a good introduction to G&L Bible; the brand summaries and reviews, "WHAT LOLI ARE YOU" quiz, etc etc....but it seemes like they tried to cram way too much into it. all the mildly interesting stuff was extremely short like the Mana thing, the demon/angel thing (forgot his name), and the novala thing. And the "NEW MANGA PREVIEW FROM TOKYOPOP!" thing at the end irked me...but I guess I saw manga promotion coming 2 miles away.

Sure, some of the spreads and the like are goth heavy, but almost all the articles are lolita-centric. This actually gets on my nerves a little since I actually prefer the goth style. I think in the future they should work on getting a little more balance between the two.

I agree. Personally I like the goth and visual kei looking stuff on a regular basis but i would rather have a book solely for egl, and one for punk/goth. Japanese goth looks much better than western goth (please go away, Manson).

Kinderwhore doesn't sound that bad to me actually.. torn up dresses, leather ass stomping boots and heavy makeup? do want.

I can't speak for the American bibles, but I know the Japanese ones do quite a bit, so I would think it would be roughly the same.

I just picked up the Summer 2008 Vol 2 Gothic & Lolita Bible and in the Harajuku Street Snaps there are some guysand a few pages on Hakuei {Penicillin} Alice Auaa but i'm not sure on any of their styles.

I'm sure there are a few others but as I said, I just bought it. Still flipping through

Sometimes, I wish the American bibles showed the rules/guidelines for lolita, instead of this "BE ORIGINAL! :D Do what ever you want! The rules SUCK! :D" No cheap lace and a breakdown on that, and how lolita isn't cosplay and that stuff. It would help a lot for the American lolita market.
