What do you think the white thing between the cuts at the bottom of the outfit are?

Oh well the white things at the cuts on the bottom are apart of the skirt part of the dress. What I would suggest doing is to make a seperate white pleated skirt and then make the cheerleading outfit and make little rectangles hanging off the end of it and then sew the rectangles on the rectangluar parts of the skirt.

Simplicity 3689 is a Cheerleader costume pattern. This will tell you how to make the white rectangles, but you may need to do a little pattern modifying--take the top-skirt pattern and a different pattern for a tanktop, tape the pattern pieces together, and cut them out all in one piece, perhaps?

I'd make a blue cheerleader outfit and sew the different colors onto it before sewing it together, that way they'll match up with no real noticeable differences at the seams. :\

Really bad idea to make the skirt and top separate, it looks really bad. What you have to do is make Godets (look it up on the internet). Just buy a dress pattern that is only a front and back and alter it to your size. I'm making the cheer outfit and godets look amazing at the bottom of the dress.

There is a full cheerleading dress pattern out there... I saw it at Joann's the other day. It may help you, and if I can find it, I'll post it here.
