Question Vocaloid (Hatsune Miku) cosplay help

Ok so. I'm new to cosplay and finally got the chance to do it since my friend invited me to AX this July. I know that is a long ways off but I am going to work slowly on this costume since I want it to look good :P
SO I was wondering if anybody had any tips for making the pleated skirt, the keypad-ish rectangle on her sleeves, and getting the wig into pigtails such as Miku's. (I'll probably be ordering the Cleo wig (http://amphigory.com/wigs_cleo.html) or the Ivy one.)
Here are some references of her:
Thi one is somebody's cosplay of her that I found on DeviantArt

For putting wigs into pigtails, you'll actually want to get a shorter wig and make the pigtails out of extensions. It's far too much weight on the wig to pull the entire thing into pigtails. You should be able to find some information on that in the Wigs and Hair forum here.

Some of the other things can be found with a forum search, too. I know there have been threads on making pleated skirts before.

Really? I thought the extensions might be a bit harder because I would probably half to dye them XD I'll go take a look at the Wigs forum and look around for a thread about making pleated skirts then. Thanks a lot

ahaha ^^ i'm planning on doing MikuMiku, too, and had the same question about the keypad-like print on her arm. there were two japanese cosplayers i found via google [including the one you showed], and i'm just not sure if they screenprinted it or what. . . because one of the girls did it on vinyl fabric @_@ the Ivy wig also looked good to me, but i agree with everyone on getting a short wig & adding extensions. . u.u

I'll e doing this outfit too :3

I'm having a problem just finding the correct color. I'm not allowed to dye anything else in my house so thats out of the question. and finding matching colors is almost imposable
... And to answer that question "Yes I live here and have nothing better to do "
Next Convention: Anime USA

Cyan - Show By Rock! If there are others cosplaying that I can meet up with
Might bring Human Luna for the Formal again.

haha I'll be doing this costume later at Anime 0asis 2010!
well all the Miku cosplayers I've talked to have either 1. ordered their wig pre-styled with detachable twintails or 2. done what the above posts say
either way would work, but the first option would be a bit more pricey, I'm guessing.

as for the pleated skit, try this:

I know you're going to have lots of fun as miku! She's a really awesome character =3
KNC'11: Yoko Littner|Starlock!Yoko Littner
SAC'11: W.I.M. Miku Hatsune|Kyoko Sasagawa
Planned: Legolas Greenleaf|Aragorn|Claude Faustus|JBF Boy|Shizuo Heiwajima

Finished|WIP|Not Started

plans will probably change C:
Current Fandom = Lord of the Rings

Stalk Me?

Yeah, your best bet for a high-pigtailed wig like Miku's is to get it premade. If you just google "Hatsune Miku wig" there are quite a few results to choose from.
Sakuracon 2011:
Dipp (Katamari Damacy), Mami Tomoe (Madoka Magica), "Originality" Miku (Vocaloid), Pachinko arc Kaiji (Kaiji), Chocobo Dress (FF General)

Now on DeviantArt!

Being only a new cosplayer, I don't have much to add/help. But, I did meet a cosplayer dressed as Miku at a con I went to recently. Here's the picture, maybe it will help you?

You can't see it, but she had the keypad thing as a sort of sticker, stuck on her arm. I love the fact she did her nails and even dyed her eyebrows to match!
