Not another Death Note cosplay! D:
I'm thinking about cosplaying as Matt, as well as L but that's besides the point, and I'm having some difficulty finding a few things. Well, maybe one thing...?
Anyway, I'm having a hard time finding gloves. I found some sweet boots and a nice pair of goggles, so I'm good with those. If anyone knows of a shop/site (or a commissioner), that I could a find a good pair of gloves, please let me know. Oh, and any tips on how to "stripe" a pair of jeans... that would be lovely too. :] Last edited by UndeadTiger : 01-31-2008 at 12:44 PM. |

A reference picture would help a lot.

This picture here: http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k120/Leicon_Kodai/Death%20Note/MelloXMatt11.jpg, is really the best one to see Matt's gloves.
I was talking to a friend about the jeans and they recommended fabric markers. The only thing is I'm just afraid that that or either sharpies will begin to fade after washing. =/ |

Nu nu nu nuuu. Don't use fabric markers, or draw on it what so ever! His pants are more like 'seams'. What I am doing is just taking some jeans that are longer than what I am supposed to have them, begin to fold in the lines, then sew. It will look much neater.
Pardon for my english, I am horrible when it comes to explaining things. Let me know if your confused. |

No, I understand. My mom actually recommended sewing on ribbons, do you think that would work?

I wouldn't recommend them either. They are folds, not lines, thats what makes Matt's pants so weird. Sure, you can do that, but folds are more accurate.

Ok, so basically something that would somewhat stick out would work, right?
I guess I could just try what you're doing and get longer jeans then fold and sew in the lines. |

I have an idea, though I havn't used it yet myself. I thought if you cut up the fabric of each leg, and then sew the pieces together with the cut edges sticking out slightly, it'll look sort of sticking-out then. I hope this makes sence, I can picture it in my head, but I have no photos yet ^^;
And you said you know a good pair of goggles? Could you possibly link the website? I'm still browsing around for a "perfect pair". n_n Thanks alot, hope this helps.

That is what I was trying to say, FlowerAssassin. Thanks for explaining it much better!
I got them from some site, let me go find them. I am actually wearing my goggles right now, they are beautiful and comfy. I will edit my post when I find it. |

The goggles that I found were here, and the "color" is Chrome - Yellow Lens. They're not the perfect goggles, for example they're not round, but they are still pretty sweet.

That would work I supose SuperSushi. But Matt's gloves look like just straight out black leather gloves.
http://photobucket.com/mediadetail/?... pageOffset=3 I would say that there doesn't need to be any detail on them because there doesn't appear to be any on them. Thats of course in the manga. Now in the Anime I'm not so sure. They changed alot of the things in the Anime. Like if I heard right Near doen't have finger puppets but little statues of the characters. And no DUCKS!!! *cries silently* But any way I would go with a plain leather glove.

I'm also planning on cosplaying Matt for a convention; my friend is going to be Mello. (x
This is my first cosplay, so I don't really know how to serve him justice. Here's what I'm planning to buy so far: Wig: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=150211114303&Category= 60188&_trksid=p3907.m29 Not exactly the right color for the fan version, but pretty close. Goggles: http://www.amazon.com/HJC-ROGUE-GOGG...456859&sr=1-58 Expensive, but they look alot like his. D: There's no way I'm buying a $100 pair of paratrooper boots (I'm cheap), so I'll just go in my black hi-top Chucks. I have no idea what to do for the vest and pants, since I have no sewing skills and I can't find any good ones for sale. But maybe my friend's mom can help me. :/ The shirt should be easy to find (Does Old Navy have it?). |

I'm still having some trouble finding a pair gloves though. Almost everything "stylish" now-a-days is fingerless. D: Oh, and the wig searching is still proving tough, not so much color but style... Edit: Ok, hold up. I'm quickly asking for your opinions on these gloves. Last edited by UndeadTiger : 02-07-2008 at 08:17 PM. |
