In need of something sandable

Im working on this Godot Visor from Phoenix Wright. What im having a problem is that I have a part with two pieces of craftfoam meeting, and i need to create a solid edge along that entire section. I have heard that gesso may be too weak because of the craftfoam. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Heres a picture:

Thanks

i think if your base is stiff enough, gesso would be fine. you could also use a pour-on varnish that would cover your seams but you wouldnt be able to sand it.
