Portal

Okay... I'm having some trouble with figuring this out... My friend is cosplaying Chell from PORTAL, and asked me to make her leg shock-things... Has anyone made these? How did you make them? Did you have to walk on your toes, or did the springs support your weight?

Pic:

EDIT:
And, any tips on making the Portal Gun?

Th-those are a bit out of our price range... (The cheapest I saw were about 250$ USD) Although, if I had the cash, I'd buy them for her.

Here's a pic of mine:

http://www.cosplay.com/photo/1358003/

They're made from craft foam with a little paper mache on the back to make it thick. The spring part itself is craft foam, heated up and curved a little. The part that attaches to the leg is thicker 6mm foam and it's held on with 2-way fashion tape:

I can't walk with my feet flat or else the springs drag on the floor and I'm worried about them getting ruined *-* So when I actually wear these with my cosplay I'll be tip-toeing lol

Hope this helps ^^

thats really sweet. have you ever thought about just putting like a small set of wheels from like a hot wheels on the bottom?
that way they roll, and not drag, and are still small enough to not be seen

Powerskips are quite different from the wacky things Chell wears.

Mine are made entirely out of FunFoam (except some floral wire inside the long black parts). I tried holding them on with spirit gum, but the weight pulled them off and I wound up using duct tape. I wore flip flops with them all day, just stood on my toes (with bare feet) for pictures. I have pics in my gallery if you want a better look.

This is what i was refering to.
the ones in the game seem to be almost affixed to her bones. because anything else would just slide off. so not so much of an option

Wow Xavietta, those look awesome. Hey, Bealzabub, if you need to know how to make em, I'd ask Xavietta. Looks like that's your best bet XD Sorry I'm clueless on this one.
