I think it's funny you say that when your friend's Shinx didn't have the collar, yet that outfit was super simple and only required a few details.

Thanks! I matched the fabric as best as I could to the picture, but I still feel like its too bright. Its a nice knit material though, and I don't think its too bright... I hope. Every picture of Raichu I've seen is a different color... Some are really dark orange-brown, and others are almost yellowish..

Edit: Oh, I remember why I came in here. For those people who carried their plushie-versions with them, how many people made them themselves? I want to carry Raichu with me, but every version I can find is only like 5 or 6 inches.. I'm getting one of those to be a backup, but I want to make a life-size version... To those that made theirs... was it easy? What kind of materials did you use? Thanks in advance. ^.^

The color looks fine. Ugh. I know. I've seen neon orange Raichus and such. D; Poor thing.

Mose plushies I've seen are made from fleece/faux fur. A lifesize little foot/two foot raichu would be cute! >x<

I know! I want to hug those poor little things. They look like someone with no color sense took a horrible paintbrush to them.

I love Raichu, but somehow I have no plushes... I have loads of pikachus though.. So weird. I'm thinking about modifying some sort of like teddybear plush or something... Or looking at how my giant pika is built and basing it off of that. But I'll try some fleece first. Thanks! ^^

Wow everything looks really amazing so far...
I'm not really planning on meeting up with a group other than two or three people but is there anything going on with the Pokemon ginjinkas attending Otakon? I'd really love to know..

Oh and it seems as though no one has tried doing Sentret recently, I'm going to probably switch the two colors of the hair since the deeper brown is somewhat my base hair color. Instead of trying to tie loose ribbon around it I'll probably just tie a fairly tight brown bow around a thick hair tie to hold it together and then streak my hair so its got those three rings going downward :]

I was wondering since I'm the a huge newbie to making my own clothing or at least trying to do so, what type of material would be most breathable and look/feel best to go with the turtleneck that the character's wearing in the design? I figured I'd get some deep brown leggings and then cut them to shorts, get some of the same fabric in a lighter brown and then sew it together for them.
Also, for the ears, would it be best if I were to put in a specific type of lightweight plastic called pellon into the ear pockets and then sew them/attach them on to a cloth headband? Or would the plastic be too heavy and cause the headband to slouch uncomfortably too much? (Sorry for the huge post, I just want to get all the questions out in one go and see if someone can answer them to the best of their abilities.)

I'm sure there are people going to Otakon as Gijinka's, you could ask on the Otakon convention forum. =3
The rings are meant to be going around though like the Pokemon has..
For the shirt, you could either use a nice soft cotton, with all the different types, they're bound to have the color. But to get it to have the same look, you'll probably want to use a fleece or something similar. But, it'll be hot. -shrug- I've seen others do the nice plush outfits with the hotter material, their outfits pay off since they look how they're supposed to.
You could have the ears sticking straight up by just using a good interfacing.

I got a nice pink fleece, although, I bought it with the intent to make a Gijinka costume, I have no idea which one for it. I was thinking Clefairy, or something. it's a really light pink, so something like male nidoran, or even Ditto is too dark pink. =/

Ah, thanks, I'll be going fabric shopping sooner or later this week so I'll hopefully pick up some nice soft material.

Would it be better to get fuzzy material for the ears? I'm thinking of doing a furry design on the outside and on the inner parts of the ear I'll have a soft fleece sort of thing.

Has anyone completed their costumes or took some new progress shots? I saw some on the past pages and wanted to know if there were updated versions or something.

There's supposed to be 2 Pokemon gatherings at Otakon. Information in this thread.

Aww :'D That sounds cute! My friend who I'll be meeting there isn't dressing up and she heard about me doing this ginjinka project, so she'll be bringing a pokeball and a pokedoll ^w^

Well there is also Jigglypuff and it's evolutions, along with Lickitung, Corsola, Skitty, Cherrim.
