(TTGL) Shimon's drill and goggles D:
I was thinking of cosplaying as Shimon ( Simon, whatever. xD) from Gurren Lagann and I'm not sure how I'm gonna make his drill or his goggles.
I was thinking for the drill, maybe I can use a clay of some sort, and if it's not the right colour then just paint over it. I've found Super Sculpey Firm clay and Cernit Polymer Clay. Would those be any good for the drill? Oh and here's pictures to show you what it looks like. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...6503203786.jpg and http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/79/...coredriqb9.jpg or would anybody know where I could probably buy the drill online? and as for the goggles.. I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to do there. This picture should have a good view of his goggles. http://giapet.net/wp-content/uploads/2007/06/ttgl.jpg This will be my first time making accessories x.x; |

there's this thing on youtube, not sure if it'd be useful or not...
http://youtube.com/watch?v=7q2XDVQOR5M i think just clay would work.

IDK if you want to do this, but if you just need a good one, buy the revoltech gurren model, it comes with a core drill that looks good. but thats only if you dont want to make it
also, what version are you doing? |

For a cartoonie look, you could make the goggles from orange felt and put a film as lenses, I've seen that before and it doens't look to bad.
If not, try BikeBandit.com for a pair with the right color lenses and paint the part outside. That's what I did for Matt's goggles, I sharpied the black silver♥

you'll also want sandpaper with a finer grit ( has tried and failed miserably at making a clay drill key) and maybe some kind of wire/metal understructuring. polymer clay is otherwise fun cause it lets you neglect most rules of sculp/molding XD

I plan on making one too, seeing how most of the ones available online are anything but cheap...>.>
I plan on buying either a sytrofoam or wood pointed thingy, sand paper, and model magic. I want to wrap the model magic around the wood pointed thingy as a base, but I'm not sure if model magic shrinks? Then i'll just sand out any marks I might have left in it, then prime and paint it! Or at least... I'll try... |
