Can this be lolita?

Ok, i won't lie, ive never done anything close to lolita and ive only ever sewn 1 dress ((chun-li)) but does anyone know of a way i could turn this into a simple lolita dress. something summery in either a light pink/blue or yellow. ill probably make a poofy sleeve shirt for underneath. would the pattern involve just simply making the skirt wider going out from the waist or is it more complex than that? if its just making the skirt wider, how wide should it go to at the bottom? any and all help is greatly appreciated

If you altered the pattern to be...poofier at the bottom i think it could work. so instead of going to a nice little flow at the bottom it goes....Out... I usually say about...1/4 times your waist but it could be more.

I think it'd make a nice classic-style jsk if you add ruffles instead of lace. You will need to add flare to the skirt portion.

CLARIFICATION:
hem circumference = 4 * waist circumference
It definitely fall between 3-4*. Just don't do 5+* or otherwise you might end up with some over-floofy square-dance looking thing.

Also, you could browse here for more sewing lolita advice:

Best of luck!

ive made a sketch of what i think im gonna make the dress like. its gonna be a pale yellow color with ruffles on the shoulder straps and possible a gather on the right leg with a cream colored skirt showing. the cream skirt will have lace with a yellow ribbon, if i can manage it, at the bottom and a petticoat underneath that. does it look like it would work? but the only question now is, how do i make the gather and should there be something on the top of the gather holding it up, like a bow?

I'm not a professional seamstress so I might be wrong, but for some reason, gathering a portion of the jsk up rubs me the wrong way. (But that's because I saw a more classic lolita into it than cutesy. Like Victorian Maiden.)

But mostly it's because I'm not sure a flare skirt would gather the way you want it to.

I do think it'd look cute but don't know if it'll come out like you want it to.

Looking more closely now, the dress doesn't have princess seams like I first thought it does.

I still wouldn't recommend pattern editing to a beginner.

im not that much of a beginner, i have altered patterns to some point, as i turned the sleeves in the pic attached (the dresses in the square) into poofy chun li sleeves. course i cut them to be much shorter and had an example of what the cut should look like.
