Crona's dress

So I have a dress that I got at the thrift store that looks like Crona's dress except for the fact its velvet. Now I've read online that you shouldn't use velvet for sewing a cosplay, but is it the same for wearing one as well? Would I be able to use this dress for Crona?

Where the heck did you hear that? That person PROBABLY meant you shouldn't use it where it doesn't belong..Like you can't say "Oh you're cosplaying a santa suit character? No you can't use the one material it SHOULD be made of!!" That's just stupid..Go for it. I'm sure it'll look great!

It should be fine. The only problem is that it might get really warm if you're out in warm weather or in a crowded room.

Current cosplay projects:
Pirika (Chain Chronicle)
Lucy (Elfen Lied)
