Wig vs. Hair: E. Honda

OK, so I am planning on cosplaying the epitome of Street Fighter manliness, E. Honda. (linked for pic)

For those of you who do not know, E. Honda is a sumo wrestler from the Street Fighter series. He wears a blue and white striped yukata, kumadori style facepaint, commonly used in kabuki theatre and wears his hair in a special style of chonmage called oicho, which is reserved for only the most revered sumo wrestlers.

So with that said, here is my question, should I go with a wig or with my real hair? My hair goes all the way to my mid-back (which is too long, but I can just cut it). I think it would be awesome to use my real hair, but it really comes down to styling my hair or styling a wig. Which way would you think would be easier/better?

Also, if anybody has any guides or tips for styling hair into a chonmage , they would be very appreciated.
