Any conventions in Memphis, TN?
Are there any anime conventions in Memphis TN? I really want to go to more conventions but the travel and hotel costs are too much for me so I was wondering if there were any in Memphis? I know there is one in Chattanooga ( It was a lot of fun! ) and one in Nashville
( Haven't been to it ) If there isn't one in Memphis I wonder if anyone plans to start one?

The best website for anime convention listings is animecons.com. There isn't one in Memphis, TN. MTAC just happened in Nashville, TN. Midsouthcon is the local Science Fiction convention. Maybe, try working with them on having an anime room at the convention or starting a local anime con (think a couple hundred people over time). http://www.midsouthcon.org/ is their website.

Actually there is a con in memphis that's new but it won't be happening until Jan of next year. ]=
I think it's called Double A-Con or AA-Con for short. /= but it SCREAMS new con (the site is on tripod. Ewwwwww) |

Thanks for letting me know about this! I hope it does turn out to be an awesome convention. You're right about those tripod sites, I actually emailed the woman on their site offering to build them a website so perhaps they'll let me.

Hey, i live in memphis Tn and unfortunately there are no cons there me and my anime crazy friends are trying to get them to host one at the fedex forum. i ave a cosplay group of like 50 ppl and we are all sending letters there!

Ah! I've been looking for a good Memphis con! I usually go to Otakon or bigger cons like that, but my budget's tight this year! I'll make it to this convention and probably have an art booth there for a day. I'm involved with the anime club here at my local high school in Collierville. I'll let them know about AAcon.
I remember when it was on tripod! It looks really good now! Expect a bunch of awesome cosplayers to show up! (( I just looked this up because someone told me today, as a rumor I guess, that there was going to be a anime convention in Memphis VERY soon. I'm glad I have the real facts now! Thanks )) |

I was told about this con by a number of people that I cosplay with and work with. I always travel to A-kon every year, but we were looking for something else to hit, so this will actually be good as a jumping off point for our con season. I have wanted to find another place to cosplay, though I don't know if I will debut any new ones there or if I will just use some existing ones and save the big ones for A-kon.
And with the date being changed to February, it starts the day after my birthday and will be during a friend's birthday, so we plan to go and have some fun. Hopefully we will know where it is soon because we all have to put in time off requests at work to be able to go. If we get off though, you can expect to see another good sized group of cosplayers, at least 6-8 of us. I think I might try to get them to revive our Bleach cosplay group since it always goes over really well at cons^^

Hi hi guys, wow i didn't think there were very many memphis cosplayers out there. I am originally from memphis myself, but moved out to dallas. And the whole time i was doing the cosplay scene i thought there were at least 10 ro 20 ppl there, didn't know there would be more.
For those who don't know me, i am the miroku at mtac  . But i might come out to check the memphis con, tho i wish kyle were coming, but i'll get to see him next week  but hmm if there is a bigger con in memphis i might come back there to check it out too

I just e-mailed the president for AACON and asked her what the progress is with the hotel. As soon as I hear back from her I'll post an update on here.
I've also changed who I'll be cosplaying at this con Friday - Rosette from Chrno Crusade - KOS-MOS from Xenosaga Saturday - My female version of Kamina from TTGL -Gwendolyn from Odin Sphere Sunday - Female Kamina or Gwendolyn ( which ever turns out to be more comfortable ^_^ ) Any other TTGL cosplayers gonna be there? I'd like to set up a photoshoot. I can't wait to see all the Memphis cosplayers!
