Rayon is interesting in that it is a natural fiber...sort of. Check out this article for additional insight: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rayon

For dying rayon, this article should answer many of your questions: http://www.pburch.net/dyeing/FAQ/rayon.shtml

thanks for sharing

I can't read patterns though, I have to look at clothes and take them apart to see how to make them XP is there an easier sleeve tutorial around to follow?

Bias Tape Trick?

I've always avoided costumes with curved bias tape like the plague. But I fell in love with a character that has curved trim. Is there trick or tool that allows you to avoid puckering? Or is the only way to cut the curved design 4 times and create fo-biases tape? (I had to do this with D-Grey-man)

Ah! Bias tape, it's a staple for me. To use bias tape on curves sans puckering, you will want to iron it to shape it that way. Use the steam setting on your iron or spritz water on the bias tape as you iron. Bias tape is designed to handle corners and curves because it's cut on the bias (it stretches and gives). You shouldn't have to cut it into pieces (unless you're adding on) because it will stretch and adjust to almost any curve.

Start by ironing along the tape, pulling the tape in the direction you want as you iron. Keep the bias tape taut. It may take a few passes to get the shape you want but I guarantee it will work even on tight curves. This is what I did when making my Kratos costume and about 7 other costumes. With a little manipulation you should be able to get smoothly trimmed curves for your costume. Hope this helps!

What about making bows out of ribbon? I wanted to learn how to do that so I don't have to keep buying them premade.

Here's one possibility -- it shows how to make a bow that isn't lopsided:

Thanks everyone for all the tutorial links, it's really helpful!

August will be my first time cosplaying, I'm not expecting a work of art but these guides will definitely come in handy ^-^

A couple of the links didn't work, I think it was the zipper ones. It might have just been the invisible zipper link.

ugh so I have a little princess peach crown to go with my costume, how do I get it to attach without covering it in glue? I used a little comb thing but that won't do it, I'm trying to get it to stay kind of slanted on my head D:

Love the thread. Anyone know where I can find a comparison chart for fabrics or a book or some such thing that gives suggestions about what fabric you should use for your mock up if your using such and such a fabric? Ex. linen(sheet) for crinkle chiffon?

Have you thought about using hair clips as well/instead of a hair comb? Or wig clips, the kind used for temp extensions, have great grip power although attaching them to your crown may be a little tricky.

There probably is a ton of this question all over the place, but I've searched a bit for an answer and didn't find anything. o_o

What's the best way to tighten a loose vest at the bust? (I have... small boobies? lol)
