Bridget's Handcuff and Shoes
So I'm going to cosplay Bridget from Guilty Gear for Fanime 2009~ He has this amazing gravity-defying floating handcuff around his waist, but I have no idea how to make it. Link to my giant ref sheet: http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h1...utterflies.png [Ask me for better images, etc.] I'm probably (like other Bridget cosplayers) going to make it smaller to stick directly around my waist so I don't have to hold it up while I walk around at the convention. The only problem is that I don't know what to make it of, or how to make it. Foam? Other light materials? X3; Any suggestions? I'm a newbie at cosplaying. D: |

Eek! Another Bridget cosplayer! I may not be of any help, but I just had my friend make the prop for me. Its completely out of cardboard.
I need better pictures of it, but if you look at my pictures, maybe you can get some ideas on how to maybe construct your own? As for shoes, I have no clue. I just wore some mary janes with really thick socks and rolled em down. :\ |

This thead might be helpful: http://www.cosplay.com/showthread.ph...ght=May+Anchor
Someone made some nice visuals of how to make various Guilty Gear props out of foam--Bridget's handcuff included. Also, I just want to add your reference sheet is very cool~ |

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys~ +w+ <33 *happy squee* I think I can figure out the handcuff now~
I've seen someone wear just chunky blue shoes and had some kind of white thing over the front. I'm not completely sure what the white thing was made of, but I might try altering some blue shoes to fit... |

Seems like I can help you! I finished my Bridget cosplay last year and I have to say that my handcuff was a success.
I made out of upholstery foam, glue and paper. I cut out a base shape for the handcuff out of it and then used brown packing paper dipped in Elmers glue (just like paper mache but with straight glue) to cover it. It took a while and I had to do between 3 and 5 layers but it was really worth it. It's very strong (I can throw it against a wall and it's fine) and it is light weight as well. Right before Sakuracon I took cardboard and glued it to one side of the handcuff so I could make the rivet (I'm not sure that's what it's called but oh well) and so I could cut a little keyhole in it. I used about 3 layers of cardboard and did about 2 more layers of brown packing paper and glue. Then I gesso'd the whole thing so it was a bit smoother and spray painted it. About the only problem I've had is that if you run into too much stuff the spray paint comes off and the white shows beneath it. As for the shoes mine always look good but fall apart horribly, so I'll be checking up on this thread to find a better way to make them. Hope I helped a little!
