The countdown to Northern Anime Festival begins
OSHAWA, ONTARIO, CANADA – June 23nd 2008 – The countdown to Northern Anime Festival has begun. Northern Anime Festival, Durham regions first and only Japanese culture and anime event is only five days away.
Northern Anime Festival brings exciting panels and workshops, live concerts, live costuming events, exhibitors, anime screenings, fun contests, late night dance, and talented artists in the artist alley to Durham College in Oshawa, Ontario Canada on Saturday, June 28th 2008 and Sunday, June 29th 2008.
Onsite registration will begin at nine in the morning Saturday located in the hallways of the Justice wing on the second floor of the Gordon Willey building. For those who’ve missed the pre-registration cutoff date, tickets can still be purchased at the door for thirty dollars Canadian for the adult weekend membership, fifteen dollars Canadian for the child weekend membership, twenty-five dollars Canadian for the adult Saturday membership and fifteen dollars for the adult Sunday membership.
The following guests will be at Northern Anime Festival: band performances by Spider’s Kiss, Hoshi*Furu and Enchanter, who will all be performing on Saturday, June 28th 2008 in the student pub. The bands will also be taking part in a question and answer session in the afternoon of Saturday. Industry guests Les Major of Darkain Arts, Anthony Chau of The Forge of Hephaestus. Improv group the 404s will be holding their classic improv comedy on both Saturday and Sunday. Mark Dillon will be returning with video game music performances on both days.
Look forward to seeing these fan and industry panels at Northern Anime Festival: The Basics of Animation, Sub versus Dub, Learning to Draw Anime, The 404’s Improv Workshop, Video Games and Technology, Next Gen Animation Technology, Japanese Rock Panel, Prop Weapon and Armor Design and Manufacture, Slice of Life, Gothic and Lolita fashion, Cosplay and Costuming, Saturday Morning Cartoons, Ouran High School Host club, Japanese Pop Concert Videos, and Pokemon: How to Catch Them All.
Like gaming? Northern Anime Festival has a lot in store for this year’s convention. We are pleased to announce that this year’s gaming is sponsored by The Imaginary Theatre Association and The Toronto Role Players Association. With their help we have a whole host of games that we are proud to run, which include Pokemon, Car Wars, Munchkin, Dance Dance Revolution and Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournaments. Much more will be revealed as our weekend unfolds.
Interact and make new friends while you participate in one of many exciting contests at this year’s Northern Anime Festival such as Anime Pictionary and Name That Anime Tune; or come in costume and participate in one of the popular costuming events, the Masquerade.

Reminder to all attendees: if you are planning to participate for the weekend and have not booked their accommodations yet, do so as soon as possible. The onsite accommodations provided by the Durham College residences fill up fast and space cannot be guaranteed on the day of without reservation.
