Attach Worbla Armor to Fabric

Hello! I am working on a mage style cosplay and need help. I am planning to make my breast plate out of worbla but realized I don't want straps to attach the breastplate. I have attached an image that gives you an idea of what I'm talking about. https://cdnb1.artstation.com/p/asset...jpg?1460026882

My first thought was to do snaps but i'm worried that the breastplate will be heavy and pull on my dress.

Do you think have one strap at the top around my neck and snaps to attach the rest? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Still learning all the wonders of cosplay, please speak slowly.
