Tokyo Ghoul Mask

I hope this is in the right place and if there's already a topic like this then I apologize, I couldn't find it!

I'm trying to make Kaneki's mask for Comic-Con and could definitely use some help. I've got soft pleather that I'm working with and am wondering if anyone knows if you can give it a dimensional look. Specifically around his mouth. I don't have any fancy materials to work with (unfortunately, I'd kill for some good tools) but I definitely don't want the mask to just look one-dimensional. Any ideas?
