TWEWY - Minamimoto's hat
First of all, I just wanted to say thanks for the advice on the spray paint. The Krylon Fusion worked great.
Right now, though, my main concern is doing the hat. I've never done embroidery, but I've worked with a hot glue gun before. I ordered a black trucker's cap, which should work fine. So now I just need to figure out how to make the front part gray (fabric paint?) and how to attach the smaller parts that look like studs. Then of course comes fraying the front, but I don't think that should be too hard. http://i29.tinypic.com/2nlybo8.jpg <---Here's a reference pic Anyway, thanks in advance!

Hey there!
I just did a Minamimoto cosplay this weekend! :3 The hat is one of your lesser worries, I hope? I personally had trouble with the jacket. I did my hat so that I used a trucker hat, fabric painted the front, added two studs to the front (you can get them practically in every goth shop at least, and they're cheap.) which you can attach with the little hooks that are already on them. The 6 silver dots on the flap I painted on as well, but you could try glueing on beads. I don't think you'll be able to get a needle through the flap in any case, so I wouldn't try embroidery. The scratchy part I did with a bread knife. Oh yeah, be sure to get a big hat, since you'll need to fit a bandanna and a wig(?) underneath as well. Hope this helps at last somewhat! ^^ Can't wait to see the finished product. |

Thanks for the tip! I'll try out the fabric paint and see how that goes. Do I put the studs on before or after I paint the front?
Speaking of wigs... I was thinking of just skipping out on one, but now I'm not sure. Do you know of any good place to get gray wigs that'd work for Minamimoto cosplay? THanks so much for the help.

After you paint the front! Wouldn't want to get paint on them.
I'm from Finland, and bought a wig from a cheap place here, so I'm afraid I cant help you there. :/ I can tell you though that I bought a dark grey wig that was originally shoulder-length. I cut and styled it myself. It's a first time for me even working with a wig, and I used glue as 'hair-gel' but it turned out fine with a bit of effort. Ordering wigs is a safer option though, I just chanced upon a good quality one in a cheap store. Usually you don't. That's all I can give ya. Glad I could help.
