Hi!
Hi! I'm sort of new to the whole cosplaying thing, but I have a friend who has been trying to get me to go to Otakon with him for a couple years. I told him that I would go if I had a costume and so I am now working on my first cos-tume ever to debut possibly at Otakon 09 (or Halloween, depending on whether I have it done by then or not).
My original idea was to do Zelda, but I have since decided instead to do Daisy from Mario Tennis for N64 (http://www.mariowiki.com/images/e/e2/MT64Art.PNG). I am an undergrad right now and I work in my university's costume shop. Cosplaying will be an opportunity to text out what I've learned in the shop and to be able to immerse myself in a character again (I am an actress, but haven't really done anything for a while, choosing to focus on other aspects of theatre instead for the time being). So yes. Hi! |

Hello Eilonwy!
One of my friends got me into cosplaying too, by bringing me to a convention my freshman year in college. I'd always loved costume making (I was a theater major before switching to journalism) and japanese culture, so it was a natural fit! I'm so glad you're bringing a costume, that was the only thing I wish I could have changed about my first con- having a costume would have made it even more fun! I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time at Otakon. ![]() Daisy looks adorable and the fact that you can use your university's costume shop is perfect! I've learned much more from cosplay about sewing and prop construction then in my theater classes. XD It's so nice to meet you and best of luck on your costume! Welcome to the site, it's full of friendly people and amazing craft/sewing information. ![]()
