Best way to cut a wig??
I got this wig. It's the perfect color for a cosplay, however, it's not the right length. So I was wondering about the best way to cut a wig. I'm a total wig newbie, so sorry if this is a stupid question. But I also know that the only stupid kind of questions are the ones not asked.
If anyone can give me hints, helps, tutorials, ideas or tricks on how to cut a wig, well that'd be just plain AWESOME!!!

One thing I can suggest is do not cut straight across with scissors UNLESS the character you are doing has flat ends (or does that ever make sense?)...or box bangs (or whatever they are called). I suggest cutting vertical to get a more natural look. So take some hair into your hand (left or right...whichever) and then with your other hand cut vertical.
Also...next time you get your hair cut watch how the stylist cuts your hair...it helps when cutting a wig (I always observe and sometimes I pick up new techniques!) Good luck! ![]() |

Do you have any references to what the wig looks like? Without a general idea it's hard to give advice, sorry~

Oh! Sure sorry about that.
http://www.cosworx.com/product_image...p.php?id=10410 I need to to just hit my shoulders. And when I put the wig on, it comes to the middle of my chest, not the very top like in the pic.

Cut slowly and take your time. I suggest cutting it slightly too long to begin with - you can always take more off but once it's too short it's over. Bear in mind also that most wig heads are smaller than a real head, so the wig will look longer on the head than it will on you.

tips
1 make sure you wig head is the same size as your head ( build it up with tape) 2 make sure you wig is sitting strait on the wig head lol ive seen people wareing wigs to the side coz there wigs wernt on the faom head strait when they cut it 3 lots and lots of pins to keep it from moveing 4 use a wig brush 5 ummm cutting just figure out how much you want off and just keep like a inch or 2 then just cut strait across and then do the vertical cut thing ( or razor it if you know how to evenly razor wigs) 6 try and keep as much fibers as you can coz if you screw it up at lease you can fix it buy making extenshion from what you cut off |

honestly, if you don't mind spending the money, and your hair dresser will do it/can do it. Wear it on your head to the hairdressers and take a reference pic with you, and get them to do it...
