I visit our local maid cafe all the time (Royal T in LA) My friend is a maid who works there. The cafe itself in inside a Japaneses art gallery making the setting very classy. The times I've gone I do not see cosplayer, only Lolitas every once in a while. I don't think Id cosplay there, its more like going to enjoy the environment. It seems to be doing well, I'd love to open one of my own!

I wonder if another themed cafe, maybe one that's not maid, would work here. It seems to me that the main problem with the idea of a maid cafe here is the idea of a subservient female staff. If it were some other costume, say a rock star theme I just pulled from some random air particle, would it do any better?

I am going into the Air Force and am going to save up my money to open up a restaurant/cafe and I was considering a Cosplay Cafe. I've read about the negativity and all that but I don't think it's a total lose. Everyone mentions Maid Cafe's but that's not what I'm opening and I don't want it to be just for us who like anime/manga. It most likely won't be called a Cosplay Cafe but I'm hoping to be able to have my workers dress up but appropriately. The requirements would be strict and I would personally be out in the store myself to make sure nothing is going on. Plus, they wouldn't have to be submissive as maids are. They will dress up but be their own personality wise. It's a good idea, and it's going to be hard, but if they can appeal to the public then it can work, in my belief.

Never been to a maid or cosplay cafe, I think it would be really cool. I would go to a maid cafe if one opened near me

My main reason for wanting to major in business for college is so I could open up my own manga cafe/store (Hopefully) in Manhatten. There are already a few manga stores there (Kinokuniya and Midtown Comics), but what I plan on doing to make it unique is cosplaying and promoting artists ^^

I wanna make one! But I'm only a brat, lol.

If anyone makes one on the east coast, shoot me up! I'd work. For food (second best to working for money, lol). XD

Working on: Natsuki Shinomiya, IA, Zatch Bell, Hajime Aoyama
Next up after current list: Oliver, Zack Fair, Sasuke Uchiha, Natsume Takashi

Haha, well it may not be a cosplay cafe but my mother is starting a sort of baking business. She's just starting, so right now we're just selling from the home, but I told her that when business picks up and she can open a store, I'd gladly work for her under the condition I'm allowed to cosplay as a maid. And she's all for it. XD
