You have to be 18 to acquire a room!?!?!

What is this shizzat? You have to be 18 to get a room? Oh well. I need a roomate anyway. I'm 17....i need a few more months to reach that magical age (then a few more until 21). Can anyone tell me if this is true? You need to be 18 to get a room? If so....anyone wanna room with me?

You do know that most hotels have the same policy, right?

Yup, the AVI and most other hotels have a hard and fast rule that you must be 18 to get your own hotel room. Failing that, you must be in the company of others who are older or a parent.

a lot of hotels even require u to be 21 or older (or at least have someone who's 21 or older stay with u in the room and have the room in their name) It sucks! Fanime 2001 we booked a room at the holiday inn and like they didn't tell us until we got there that one of us had to be 21 or had to have someone stay in the room with us who was 21 or older. It sucks X_X try posting a message on the board to find someone who's older that u can crash with.

I heard it's not very safe at ALL and a very bad idea to do that in that area... (but I could be wrong, I have never been to Lancaster.) You live in Anaheim? Could you just commute? ^_^

Your're no safer in Anaheim than you are in Lancaster. What do ya think we have up here? An ocean of singlewide meth labs???. Commuting back to Mouse Town is a bad idea. I have had moments driving back from Disneyland where I can't remember how I got from Santa Clarita to Ave. S!!!

XD;;;;

I sorry. I did not formulate that opinion; my hopefully-roommate's parents did. ;-; I have never been to Lancaster in my life. I hope I didn't offend you! ;_;

They said something about it being right next to a prison or something. ;-;;;

The thing with Anaheim that makes everyone in my household happy is that it's closer. (I don't live in Anaheim, i live in Irvine. :B) The farther it is, the more weary everyone gets. Not like they're going to stop me from visiting the con though. :b

It's safe.

The hotel property is patroled 24/7, either by my Security guys or by the hotel's. All the areas are pretty well lit, and this is the type of con where you are with people most of the time anyways. There is a Sheriff substation a few blocks away on Lancaster Ave., and another one off Avenue J. I have both of them on speed dial.

The only time you might conceivably run into problems is if you're traveling back and forth from one of the auxilary hotels in the dark. In which case, I would recommend traveling in groups. Please avoid late-night trips to the 7/11 unless you bring a flashlight and some friends There is a stretch of land nearby owned by CalTrans that could be a potential ambush spot.

Manpower permitting, you could always ask for an escort from Security.

And not to sound sexist, but this is doubly true if you're a small-framed female. An attacker will assume you are easy-prey.

Well, there always is the trick I used for AX. Just have someone who is of age reserve the room, and check in, than hand over the key to you and disappear until the con is over. Or you can reserve a room with two beds and say you're staying with the person.

Well, Kira, we are aware of that strategy and we DO frown on it. The person in question doing this could be setting themselves, us, and the hotel up for a lot of trouble. You should remember that AVI is not some huge mega-room complex where they are too busy to care about such things. It's small and intimate and everyone knows everyone.

While we value your attendance at AM, we would prefer you come here above board and legal like. If something were to happen to you or anyone else underage in a room that was falsely applied for, it would be a bad scene for all concerned.

We won't go around checking ID's or rooms unless the situation clearly warrants it, but anyone checking into the hotels under these pretenses will be asked to leave.

The area around the con hotel is not safe to wander alone, IMO, but the AMV itself seemed very safe (although I never let my kids go back to the room in the far building by themselves.) I felt quite comfortable having my kids there, and I thought both hotel and con security did an excellent job.

Hell I am with friends but I might ask around to see if I can stay in someone else room, last time i was in there's I wasn't really being in a good atmisfear, or however spelled, and at AX....well my health got in the way and my room mates had the keys....feel bad for staying in Michi's room one night, but thank you for it again Michi, so in otherwards, I am thinking of rooming with others this time, if you want I wouldn't mind one bit, just how long are you rooming there? but if your not looking for room mates anymore....anyone looking for one?
