Yoko from Gurren Laggan

Hey lo! I still have alot more to go, but I started the top, made the shorts, found the socks and started the gloves <3

I need to make the belt and the scarf, find the sun glasses, and finish the gloves <3

What do you think so far?

I think the legs of you shorts are a little long; Yoko has kind of a boy-short-swimsuit-bottom style going on, like bootyshorts, and yours seem to be just normal short-shorts.
Also, I think you should make the flames on the top go all the way down to the bottom the way Yoko's are, so you don't have that black strip underneath them.

It looks like you painted onto a bikini. I don't reccomend that.

I suggest getting some vinyl fabric to match with the pants and sew the flames onto the vinyl bikini.

Yeah, I was going to do that originally, but I didn't like the look of the seam T^T But I might do it anyway, since the paint isn't so smooth either.

Seconding everything that's been said in this thread. Yoko's costume looks so easy, but it's actually tricky to get just right.

Luckily, the shorts should be easy to fix, as you can always take fabric off, but you can't put it back on, so make them shorter. She also has a v in the front, like she forgot to button the top of them (even though there's no button), so if possible you should add that too. The bikini top doesn't necessarily need to match the shorts, as Yoko's shorts are drawn shiny, but her top never is...however, it may help tie the costume together. Sewing vinyl to vinyl is a huge pain, even when you use wax paper over the fabric to stop it from sticking to the needle, but it looks great when done correctly.

As far as the flames on the bikini go, it's definitely better to sew them on. It's a pain in the butt, and it's difficult, but it's so worth it in the end.

But anyway, you seem to be doing an all right job so far. Keep working on it, and take progress photos. You're really pretty and I think you've got a good face for Yoko, so I hope this costume turns out well for you!

For the flames on the top: If the seam looks lame, you could always glue them on. Considering it's vinyl to vinyl though, I'd use a type of fabric glue, not hot glue (Unless you want melty plastic ^^).

the bra actually isn't vinyl, the shorts are but the bra looks to be of a more swimsuit material and also it's a deep blue, not black like the shorts
