Another thing to point out scheduling wise is the fact that there is normally a break in the early evening (about 5ish or so) so that everyone can get dinner or has time to get ready for the masquerades. So don't be surprised if there are no panels scheduled for around dinner time.

As for skill division, I would second talking to the director just to be 100% sure. If your not ready and your awards are not sufficent to do so then you don't want to be stuck there.

@CapsuleCorp: And some of us don't want you to compete as a master at CC. Some of us have only just gotten to Journeyman level this year after all. We'd like to stay there for a little while before moving up again.

The Future Fashion Folio is mailed out to all registered members of the convention; don't know if it's also going online. That reminds me, I need to register!

As for the other questions, this year there were panels on Monday although it was a sort of slow-down relax half-day, and the Thursday tours were great. I would definitely encourage arriving a day earlier and/or staying for Monday to get the full experience.

Yes, the International divisions are different. At my first International event (Worldcon 2003), while I could technically enter as Novice, based on my skills and experience I was advised by the Masquerade Director to enter in Journeyman. So I think you'd probably be Journeyman as well, LotT. I'm not sure whether I'll have to move up to Master this year, will have to ask. (Yikes!)

Thanks for the info, everyone. Staying until Monday seems like a good idea. Does a schedule usually get posted online prior to the con?

Journeyman sounds about right but Iíll definitely e-mail the masquerade director when I have time to see what their opinion is. HmmÖ I only see an e-mail listed on the site for the Historical Masquerade Director though. Does that mean there isnít a director for the Sci-Fi & Fantasy masquerade yet? I was hoping to investigate both and then choose one to enter since I have several costume ideas and havenít made a final decision about what Iím making for competition at this con.

And, CapsuleCorp, I remember when we used to post in the YGO thread regularly so it would be cool to finally have a chance to meet you!

C Sue Schambaugh is the SF/F masq director.
she is very active on cosplay.com I believe.
she has also been MD for Anime USA

if her links on the CC 27 wesite aren't good, the over all events director is Marty Gear, and he would be glad to help you.

Ah. Thanks for the information, Gravely. :-) I was asking because I looked at http://www.costume-con.com/cc27/f_&_sf_masq.htm but didn't see a name or e-mail mentioned for the masquerade director on that page.

It's great to see that so many cosplay.com folks will be attending. I'm pleased to hear that so many of you are attending again. *high fives* I can't wait to see you all there.
I can hardly wait.

It'll be nice to see you and Sarcasm again as well as the cosplay.com folks who have perhaps never been to a CC before. Looks like this is shaping up to be a good convention.

I'm totally going to try to go considering how close it will be to me this year. I'm not sure yet what I'll wear there but my friends who want to go too have thrown a few ideas at me. ^_^ One of my coworkers from a theater job I just finished may be going too and wants to try to drag our boss along XP

It's also much more expensive if you wait until May to register.
