Unhappy Kos-mos armor

Well, I took an old plastic plate and turned it into the main shape. My goal was to use a rubber mold to do all the different bumps, curves, etc. Well, that became a huge bust. I could just paint a shadow depth on the plastic plate. But I don't know if that would work well or not, would painting it look bad? If only I could use a needle and thread. Oh well such is life. So does anyone have any ideas. It would be really helpful.
