I was sad. Today I went to AWA as Fakir, and there was no Tutu cosplayer at all and only one person recognized me

Aww I feel so far away from all of you guys! All the cons I go to are on the east coast...I'd be cosplaying Princess Tutu at either New York Anime Festival or Anime Boston.

Too far up north for me.

I saw princess Kreahe (forgive my bad typing XP ) today, and I was sad. I asked her where she was yesterday ^_^;

DarkChaos, stop being sad!! You're at a convention. I'm pretty sure being sad is illegal!!

Just a couple of weeks, then I can get my Tutu wig. Have decided to keep costs down by pinning my hair up and dyeing it dark brown for Kraehe, much the same as I did for Sakura. Then I'll get a thin hair band to put the feathers on.

Ummm, let me get back to you on that one..my main Sunday costume has been taking all of my time so far. I haven't had chance to experiment with my Rue idea yet. ..Are you definitely doing Kraehe?

Ranma 1-2: Yeah, definately. It might be the only one I finish, seeing as I haven't bought Tutu's wig yet, but I'm using my own hair for Kraehe.

Then I just need the material. Which I need to figure out. Urgh it's just COST that's holding me back.

I just thought I'd ask, because New Look are getting their boots in, so I don't know how long those shoes will be in stock. You know it's bad when you start worrying for other people's cosplays XD

I'm thinking about doing Princess Kraehe, but probably not for another year or so. Gotta work on my cosplay-making abilities and body image/self confidence first. And I'd like to work on my ballet (I've been taking dance for a few years, but I'm a newbie at ballet) as well, but I guess that part isn't too too important (ah.. I just made an awful pun.. sorry).

@ desertsphinx: I got happy again. I had fun as my original character Celestrial-even though I almost died of over heating, the air flow in the hotel was horrible XP And sunday was fun when I was Sesshoumaru and came across two Rins <3 Both of which got a huge gigantic hug! XD

DarkChaos: aaah good I'd hate for you to spend your entire con unhappy.

I spent the evening experimenting with hair and makeup. I'm putting my hair up (NOT as easy as it sounds) and dying it dark brown/black.
The results can be found here:

What do you guys think? I was going for the kind of messy (feathers), sexy look. Because Kraehe is, in my head. She's the total opposite of innocent Tutu.

That actually looks really, really cool. I like the hair, but are you going to have her bun thing? And don't forget the purple eyeshadow!

Does she have a bun thing? That would make my life SO. MUCH. EASIER. I do have purple shadow on, but it was very quick and light and it got covered by my lashes. I might do a proper makeup test tomorrow after rehersals. I'm thinking of going very vampy with dark purple shadow, and dark lips too, but I'm not sure.

Hello HappyMunchkin!! Don't worry, I have some body issues, but I think cosplaying is a great way to get over things like that!!

Aha!
Well abuot the bun I'm not really sure, i'll have to look again.
I'm looking forward to seeing this makeup test

Edit: Yeah, nevermind. There's no bun. But where did all that hair go?!

It's pinned at the back of my head. It's not perfect, but I might use your bun idea, even if it's not really supposed to be there.

A note other than hair. It may sound stupid, but what's the best way to make the fabric covering on top of the tutu?

Hair looks Fab! ..very Princess Kreahe. I love it

I don't know if this is any help, but for mine I glued my hair feathers onto a black hair clamp thingy and just attached it like that, was very quick and easy to adjust. Maybe you could hold your bunched up hair in place with the same kind of thing (looks like two hair combs joined with a spring inside.) Not sure what you call them.

For the top layer of the tutu, (sometimes called the 'plate' or 'top skirt'), I cut segments from the same fabric as the bodice and sewed them all together to form a circle. The seams radiate out from the centre (a bit like a slice of orange appearence). That way the pile of the fabric is shared around. Then cut a hole in the centre to match your hip circumference if your tutu sits on your hip (like it should). But if it sits on your waist then cut the hole in the centre to match your waist measurment. Then sew it onto the basque. When you hem the top skirt it should stop short of the net skirts so there should be a couple inches of net skirt still visible.
