Hey All, I am very inspired to start Lolita, and Ive done a bit or researching and all, but about a few months ago I had came acrossed this very loveley skirt over at Savers, seeing it I just had to get it, it was such a doll. And seeing this thread reminded me about this skirt.

Anyway

All the information I know about it is, (it doesent rest at my hips but higher, so thats not an issue) and the bottom of the skirt rests just were my knees are. So that isnt an issue either.

Well its Lola brand, and 100% Cotton, its very very soft.

well anyway here are some pics

that black strip of lace I guess you would call is very soft too.

Could this pass as lolita?

thanks for the help!

Cute! ^_^ But are those flowers made of.. holes? I don't know if that's allowed.. I've certainly never seen it done in lolita. ("op0------" said my cat as he ran across the keyboard) The holed pattern seems a little too contemporary to me.

It looks more lolita inspired to me than actual lolita. It doesn't seem like it could possibly achieve the fullness of a lolita skirt. The holes also seem a bit iffy to me. If anything you could wear an underskirt in a contrasting color so it might work.

The holes do seem a bit iffy. I do have some blouses that I would work well with the skirt if it wasnt just plain old black in white. So the idea for the underskirt would work perfectley. Thanks guys =D

While we're on the subject of skirts, I have this skirt and although they're bad pictures (taken with the laptop) I might as well ask. The striped portion at the top can easily be removed, so I pulled the top of the skirt (without the striped part) skirt up to where my belly button is, to show that it goes to my knees (though the angle of the laptop makes it look longer) The second picture is just to show that it's got plenty of fabric for a petticoat.

It doesn't have the right shape. And by the looks of it, it's made of that stretchy cotton, isn't it? That doesn't really work very well with lolita. The fabric needs to be stiff enough to hold the proper shape. If you wore a petticoat underneath it, the petticoat layers would show right through the fabric and it would look pretty bad. It's kind of like having visible panty line, but with a petticoat XD

This skirt needs ironed but the picture will have to do for now. It's 100% cotton, has two layers, and the pattern on it is of little vines with flowers. I was thinking of the possibility of it being a casual classic lolita. As you can see, there is enough material for a petticoat.

I don't think it would fit a petticoat, even an a-lined one. But, yes I guess this can be used for casual lolita, there really isn't a "casual classic" style. Casual is the umbrella term and doesn't need to made specific. I've never really seen casual done classic so that might be an interesting coordinate. However I suggest that you coordinate this well into a lolita outfit since it doesn't look very lolita right now, even as casual.

Blast!

I also have this skirt, which has more material and is also 100% cotton, but I don't think that it's a very good color for lolita.

Again, I don't think a petticoat would fit. You have to remember it poofs out at the waist and here if you wear one it would poof out at your hips. If you wear it higher on your waist it would look strange, so there really isn't anyway to bypass it. The color, however, is fine

I remembered that I've had this pattern for a while, so I dug it up. I originally got it because I wanted to make myself a dress with nice pockets, but the pockets are optional and I think this (in the right fabric) might work as a nice lolita dress, especially with it's ruffly front. what do you think?

I think I'd shorten the straps so the top would be higher.

Actually that pattern should work nicely. If anything you don't need to shorten the straps, but wear a blouse underneath. You could even do what AP did and make bunny shaped pockets. ^^
