Hey hey everyone there is Cosplay land! I am brand new to the cosplay experience and I want to go as Zack Fair from FFVII to the upcoming Megacon. The biggest problem I'm running into (and other people have as well from what i've been researching on other forums on this site) is actually making his sword. This is gonna be my first time ever making a Prop weapon so I'm basically going in blind here. =( For all of you who don't remember what it looks like (altho i'm sure everyone does) , here are some reference pics:

I've do not want the version of the Buster Sword that Cloud used in the Original FFVII(even though yes, i know its a classic xD), But rather the version that was in FFVII: Crisis Core.
Now, before many people say "Omg, theres like... 100,000 posts as to how to make this sword", I will say that i've spent my some time Using the search function (a noob using the Search funtion FTW!!! ^.^) and i have found different ways to make it and such. The best and most detailed way i've came across so far is Ditto's tutorial on how to make the original Buster Sword which was greatly appriciated:

I can use many of his techniques and measurements for my sword as well, but the biggest difference (and problem i've having) is the design oh his hilt and Zack's hilt are difference (as well as the design that is around the holes for materia on Zack's sword). And this, my friends, is where i'm stumped. =( I can adjust the holes for the materia to the center of the blade, no problem, but i have NO IDEA how i'm gonna get the hilt of the sword together.

Please help.
If anyone has any ideas on anything: Other measurements, other materias to use, general tips or instructions, or Ideas oh how to contruct the hilt, please help out.
This being my first time, i'm open to any all ideas from seasoned cosplayers! ^.^; Thanx for reading, hope i can get this project done. >.>

By making the hilt hilt thicker than the blade, you can cut a slot into the bottom side of the hilt for the blade to slide into. Then drill a hole on the top side of the hilt so that you can slip your handle into it. Then just use whatever adhesive is suitable for your material to hold it all in place. ^_^

For most of those designs I would suggest getting yourself some paints (acrylics work well) and just painting them on. Makes it easier for you and (if you can replicate the designs) doesn't look bad.
