Ha ha ha yes ma'am. I did work some on my costume last night. It's not a complaint or anything, but embroidery really does take a while. What I have found though is if the shapes are bigger, rather than say the tiny symbols I did for my Zelda costume, it actually takes less time. I am not sure if that's just because it seems like it's coming together when you are working on a giant flower or what, but those little line designs seemed to take and eternity to finish.

I know what you mean. I've done a bit of embroidery myself, and I completely agree.

I was wondering if it was just me that noticed that. When I did the embroidery for Sheik it took months... I was so tired of looking at those designs, but I am usually pretty happy to work on Terra. I guess that means I haven;t worked on it enough huh? :P We will see what happens when I get to the gloves and boots. :P

No kidding. I lucked out, when I did the flowers on my dress, my mother in law had an embroidery machine which we used to do the appliques on my dress. Very handy and much faster. But not as accurate. ^.^;;;

Well I can see from your pictures and I think it looks really nice. What type of fabric are you using for the red material? Also, were the flowers on your machine preset? Or were you able to make them up? Either way, it still looks great.

For the red dress, I took a fairly similar prom dress that was on sale at my sister-in-law's work and cut it up to the right length. I'm not sure what kind of fabric it is... but the red arm sleeves are a red stretchy fabric... I think it's lycra or something? I don't remember. And those flowers were actually preset in the machine. We just increased the size.

Ah okay. It's probably some kind of satin or something. But it looks nice. That's pretty cool that your machine can embroider things like that. Mine is pretty old and very fussy, so I doubt I could do anything like that by machine. Also, were you able to get the flower designs on the arm as well? I imagine it would be difficult to embroider on lycra. ^^;

I have some flowers from my first gloves that I could sew on, but I ran out of time before Yulecon, and I think I want to remake them. Basically you treat em like patches.

Ahhh okay that makes sense. So when you redo them what is the plan? Are you going to use the same fabric and the same methods?

The new flower patches? Yeah. It was pretty easy, All I'd have to do is sew them to the gloves. If you mean the embroidery on the dress, I'm not really sure yet. I might use the same base, then use your wonderful pattern to just do it by hand, because I don't think the machine will let me program something like that...

Hmm well I know that some embroidery machines will let you upload your own designs, but if my memory serves me right, they are usually only up to about 5 inches by 7inches... so there's not a lot of room for Terra designs. Unless you are really rich and can afford one of those huge commercial embroidery machines. I personally don't mind the embroidery by hand though. It seems to be more satisfying.

Yeah. Problem is the fact I don't have much patience. I don't know how well just sitting there and stitching would turn out. ^.^;;;

Ah well yeah patience is a factor. I personally find it relaxing. It's nice just to sit down and work on it for a little while.
