@ El3ktra: That's a really cool idea for the boots! I can't wait to see the finished product. I need to do some more research on resin I think.

@ Liliana: I love the new horns, color and all. Please don't change them. They really pop with that dark gold color and they look so lovely.

@ Terra~Esper: I had the same thing happen with my wigs bangs actually. I didn't realize you were supposed to give the fibers a chance to cool down between blow dryer usages. Don't give up though! You can do it!!

In other news... I started working on the Edgar wig this weekend. I sewed a few extra wefts to a wig I bought and then realized I needed more wig extensions so my work is cut off until the extra fibers arrive. I also attempted my first hand made weft... yeah that ended a little less than expected. :P I haven't done much else though other than embroidery and adjusting the bodice slightly. I hope to have something to show soon though. ^^;

the wig

@Lil: It went REALLY frizzy on the end. I had no choice but to trim it, and it was at least an inch and a half. But It's okay now. I got my layers decently done and managed to get the rollers in this morning. Just have to attack it with the blow dryer next. ^^;;; I'm still trying to figure out how it happened though! The iron was on the lowest setting!!!

@Seifer: Ah, the hand made wefts. ^.^;;; Want my advice? Use the flat clips you use to separate hair while styling to help spread the fibers out evenly and hold it in place while you sew. Makes it SO much easier. And much less messy. Just keep practicing, and you'll get it.

So how DID you do your bangs? They're so... fluffy. ^^

Oooh that is a wonderful idea!!! I must try it. I actually have very few hair styling supplies, so I think I need to pick them up specifically for styling wigs because it's very helpful. In any case, thanks for the tip! I had hair coming out in clumps when I tried to comb it. :P

As for the bangs, I trimmed away as much of the damaged wig fibers as I could to make it look less crappy. I just kept at it with the blow dryer until it looked right. I ended up just using the cool setting instead of low and found that to work much better. There were a few times where i had to start over with the bangs and just soaked them in a bit of water to help straighten them and that seemed to help. I still had to trim away a lot though.

Everyone was nice to me that I could tell, but I was just so jazzed about being in Japan that they could have treated me poorly and I wouldn't have cared. I know they really seemed to appreciate that I took some time to at least learn a little Japanese.

Fiberglass sounds pretty neat so far! Perhaps I will have to try it. would you say it's cheaper than wonderflex? I usually get some pretty good results with wonderflex but it is expensive and can sometimes be time consuming.

Thank you for the compliment about my embroidery!

@ Final Evangelion & Tifaia: I agree, embroidery is wonderful, but it is unappreciated. It takes a lot of time and depending on the technique, a lot of skill as well. I am still only working with a variant of the satin stitch...
I haven't tried using resin over craft foam. I've only tried it with insulation foam. It is nice for a top layer on wonderflex though to make the surface now. I think many use friendly plastic or bondo for the purpose. I'll give it a try using over regular craft foam and see how well it works. It's about $35 per 1/2 gallon. I'm not sure how many sq. Ft it covers but I imagine it is more than a wonderflex roll.

Right now, things are pretty scary in Japan. So far my friends are okay, but I lived on kyushuu - the southwest island. But I did experience two small earthquakes and one bigger one there.

@tifaia and terra - so 10:30am on Saturday? I'll be there.

@Roxas: I can't believe the game is coming out in a week. >.> I don't have time for it to distract me from my costuming. lol

@Final: Glad to hear that your friends are ok. The first thing I did was check with my sister schools (all of the universities I've been to have programs in Japan, go fig) and exchange students I knew. They were all more concerned about everyone else. It's inspiring to see people come together during a time of need.

And yep! 10:30 Saturday morning. Looks like we'll have a Bartz joining in as well. I get the feeling I'm going to be the only villain. >.>

Gahhh the shoes are giving me he'll... One of them broke in half while I was taking the clay out and putting the shoe back in to see how many layers to add to te resin... It sucks cause I had to join it back up with resin and I was about to put the layers with fibre glass on too >.<

That and they're not the perfect shape since when I put the first layer of resin on it was too heavy and parts of the toe curved inwards...

Gah first time using resin and I'm learning new things so I should be prepared when I decide to make horns out of the stuff...

My portfolio for the comp is due this Sunday and i'm starting to freak out
that I won't have enough info and pictures and progress in it to be accepted into the comp....

@final: glad to hear you and your friends are safe... Makes me a little glad that I declined the invite to go to japan.

@~~xXEl3KtRaXx~~: Ick. Sorry to hear that. But, that's part of the "fun" with working with new stuff, right? *thud* I'm going through the same mess with latex making horns. Just hang in there! I'm sure you'll get it all figured out. ^^

@Tifaia, that sounds good. I'll try to convince one of my friends to take some photos with my camera and send you guys some pics of the costume.

My new puppy was born yesterday, so I should be taking him home in may (very excited).

@Seifer: DON'T comb it out until after you've COMPLETELY finished sewing the weft. Until you completely finish, the hair isn't completely secure and it'll pull out.

@Final: Pictures pictures!!!!

@Tifa: I can't wait!!!
