Are there any conventions/festivals in Taiwan in the month of August? How exactly are they like? Is it more like Comiket or an American con?

I'm so lost and I'm a twinkie; I can only speak, not read or write so looking at sites won't be of much help at all. .__. I'm just curious to see how it's like over there, though I might not cosplay when/if I'm attending...unless you have to?
