Universal? "Can I Pass?" thread - Page 14

I don't crossplay myself (or haven't tried yet) but I thought I'd throw a little bit of advice out.

GENERALLY, not always, but generally men have "disinterested" eyes, while girls are more interested and curious. I read through the whole thread and saw a lot where eyes were the only things throwing me off. A totally convincing super cute sweet girl cannot have bored eyes!

Anyways, good luck all of you! Crossplay sounds really hard. 8D;;;

Okay so this isn't really a Do I pass, but more of a can I pass? Can you tell me if I have a chance at pulling this off and fooling people into thinking I'm a guy? Before I go into trying the makeup and other crosplay techniques, I just wanted to know if any of you thought I had a chance. I'm most concerned about my face.

Alright, I've thought of crossplaying a lot since I think that the male cosplays are much more comfortable than girls cosplays. The closest I've gotten to crossplaying so far would be Haruhi from Ouran High School Host Club and technically, she doesn't really count since she is a girl wearing a guy uniform. Here is a photo of me wearing a boy uniform:

Anyways, the main question is would I ever pass as a guy? It wouldn't be too hard since I don't have to worry about binding as I don't have much of a chest and a sports bra "hides" everything. I'm mainly planning on doing Syaoran from Tsubasa Chronicle and Zero Kiryu from Vampire Knight with my best friend, who will be doing the female characters and wanted to have couple cosplays this year for fun. xD She just thought I'd be better than her at it since she can't hide her chest easily.

Animangafreak: You could pass with some work. You definitely need to contour your chin and cheeks using either a powder foundation that's slightly darker than your skintone or a bronzer. Brush the makeup under your cheekbone to 'hollow out' your cheeks and strengthen your jawline by applying it on your jaw.

me_random: I'm assuming you're male trying to pass for female?

Your picture isn't very clear, but the two things that jump out at me are your 5-o'clock shadow and your thick eyebrows. If you could pluck or just use makeup over your eyebrows to make them thinner and if you could get a closer shave (or again, makeup) that would help a lot. Also, some false breasts would help a lot.

I could give more tips if you had a clearer picture; do you have one available?

Ryoko-and-Yami: In some cases you most definitely pass, in others, your face looks a little more feminine. I would play around with the makeup for each cosplay you do to achieve the look you want.

As for your sister, she passes for sure, though I would suggest looking at a brown eyeliner just to make her eyes a bit less wide.

Which costumes do I not pass as? Then I would have a better idea of what to do.

I'll tell her you says she passes and about the brown eyeliner.

Ryoko-and-Yami: You look more feminine in Gaara (it's the shape of the eyeliner in this case) and Oliver. Suzaku is also cutting it pretty close.
