Steampunk

So I recently just fell in love with the whole steam punk style, I am really pushing hard to try and put a few superheros in steam punk outfits. I would like to get a genrel consenses on who people would like to see in the anime world go steampunk.what I want to do is get some opninons and i will pick the two most voted and give them a shot. I am planning on debuting the winner at a local comic book store's halloween costume contest this year.
So you guys are really going to help me out with this and I will keep the voting open tell the end of Febuary. So lets see what you got.

True but its also a general question about what do you think. So in a way yes you are right. But if you really get down and examine the question its also is a response of what do you think would be cool. So really were both right in the sense that it depends on your interpretation of the question. Following me.

I got back from my "local" (50 miles away) comic book store, and saw what could be termed: TRANSFORMERS STEAMPUNK. I'm thinking about doing it..

Also, (I did kind of get into an argument on this with someone.) Of doing Doctor Who (C. Baker and P. Davison) Steampunk, but then, the Doctor can basically be put anywhere and fit in...

I'm doing a White Rabbit Steampunk for a Dragon*con steampunk Alice in Wonderland group... so its possible. I almost did the Cheshire cat.. had a sketch and everything, but I found the perfect giant pocketwatch for my Rabbit.

You said you're going to D*C, right? I think I saw you down in that topic. If you are and you get the Cheshire Cat done, we still need one for our group. Even if you just join up for photos at one point it would be really cool.

Rise of Nations II: Rise of Legends has some really good but complex designs on the Vinci side if you are looking for ideas.

I will put some images up tonight when I get home from work.

As for steampunk anime characters, I think Skuld (from AMG) would convert over well.

But among superheroes... I dunno. Batman, Ironman, Robocop, Inspector Gadget, Master Chief, and Gizmoduck are really the only characters I can think of off-hand that are defined by technology, not abilities. Superman is superman, doesn't matter what year it is (and Aquaman is useless in all situations).

But really a character has to be defined by technology in order to be any different in a steampunk setting, and in practice there tend to be very few such heroes because their strength also tends to be their weakness (that they are merely the product of man's intellect and will, not something that transcends man entirely). Every universe can tolerate a few such misfits, and they tend to shine when the transcendent qualities of their peers are turned against them, leaving the battle to those techno-specialists who possess the quality of being merely a very exceptional human.

An altogether different avenue for steampunk is to look at gaming. The aforementioned Rise of Legends, as well as Warhammer 40k, and a whole slew of FF and FF-like games have huge amounts of steampunk content.

if you do, why don't you enter the SteamPunk category at Anime Central in their fashion show? ...if you plan on going... :P
