How can I make my voice sound like a guy's voice?

Ok well i'm thinking about crossplaying but I was just wondering how am I going to be able to sound like a guy or shouldn't I worry about changing my voice to make me sound like the character? Anyway has anybody got any tips on how to go about sounding like a guy without looking silly?

Thankies

I've crossplayed several times and never worry about deepening my voice, (it's actually pretty funny to catch people's expressions when I speak).
If you want to deepen your voice, think about making the sound resonate from your chest. Women have 'head' voices, (higher) and 'chest' voices, (lower). Concentrating on making sound resonate in your chest will give more volume when you deepen your voice.
However, unless you already have a deep speaking voice, it's pretty unlikely anyone will think you're a man by the way you speak Most f-m crossplayers don't bother with it.

Search "boom your voice" on YouTube, there's a very quick and effective guide to temporarily lowering it. I can vouch for the technique; I don't worry much about my voice passing but I tried BYV and sure enough, people on the phone started calling me 'sir'.

Not suggested; presented as something somebody apparently DID.

I've never deepened my voice for a crossplay, but as an amateur voice actor/singer, I will say if anyone is going to try it, do it VERY carefully. It's easy to damage your vocal cords beyond repair doing something like this so...yeah. It took me about a year to get to the point where I can sound like a boy/young teen guy without straining my voice (I guess it depends a lot on your natural voice too, mine just happens to be very feminine).

This technique has worked for me.... I have been told before that I sound like a man and I can only sing male artist songs from bands like Three Days Grace, Nickleback and Staind. I love my man-ular voice! lol ^__^

For me (girl) I can lower my voice and even give it a little rasp easilly because I screamo scream alot. But in the processes I dameged my voice. So my advice is life u wanna lower your voice stand in the mirror and keep scaleing your voice down one step at a time kinda like a singer warming up. Then once you have what you want add some effects to it, to make it match what u want

I don't think it's needed really... but if you want to, just try to speak from your diaphram (sp?) it's in the bottom of your ribcage, it takes some practice, but you'll be okay ^^

Drop your tongue down lower in your mouth. As a girl it will make your throat feel funny to speak like a man but if you're gentle it won't strain you. Speak with deep breaths, let the words come out full, and just let it be chest voice. A relaxed, non-head. That will work.

Don't try to do that stupid "let's force my voice super low" thing... for one, it will make you sound stupid and for another you'll strain yourself real quick.

You should be able to feel your words coming from your breastbone.
