Hentai Costumes

I was just wondering what people opinion on costumes from hentai are... good or bad?
If a hentai costume covers all the important stuff, and does not break any laws... should they allowed?

What is your view?

Andrea

I personally think hentai costumes are fine, as I've done one. I've seen some regular anime and game costumes that are worse than hentai costumes, so I don't see why a person couldn't cosplay hentai.

Sure... as long as the essential parts are covered, I don't have a problem with it. It's art, like anything else, so why not? As long as your costume isn't particularly offensive I wouldn't have a problem with it.

Some are kind cute..

I really like this one outfit from a game called 'princess maker 2'
Though I'm sort of afraid if someone saw me in it they would scream across the hall .
Either something vulgar or something about me being a pervert..

Though I don't consider PM a real hentai game..

lol, my group just got gawked at and hit on, but we played along while keeping our boundaries. It was fun, a lil uncomfortable at first, but it was worth it for all our jokes we have now. And the fact we can go into anime stores and ask for "cosplayable hentai".

The Princess Maker series isn't a hentai series.

As for hentai costumes... I personally am kinda unnerved by them. The way I see it, there are three types of reactions.

"Who's that suppose to be?"

"Oh cool, you're from that hentai series!" *possible drooling involved, unavoidable affliation with object of sex in mind*

"Um, I know who she's suppose to be, but recognizing her would tell people that I play hentai games and thus am a pervert, so I think I'll just smile politely."

But of course they should be allowed, it's legitimate cosplay. People can't exactly or shouldn't stop you from doing it. It's just a bit of the strange side.

The only people at an anime convention who would be uncomfortable with Hentai Costumes are those people who are too scared to admit that they're hentai.

Ah, the Bondage Fairies! They're just hilarious.

As long as it's not something that could get you arrested (ie exposed chest or other areas), it's cool. Most people cosplaying hentai series characters, I think, have more of an awareness about possible inappropriate dress and behavior than many from more tame series.

Like most everyone else here, I agree that cosplaying from Hentai series is cool as long as it's legal according to the con and actual law. It's not something I'd do because I'm too self contious about myself, (about the most 'hentai' character I've ever wanted to cosplay is Pink or running around as a random Goth Neko boy. But before you people start squeeling, I have a leatard that'll cover anything that the fish nets don't.) but is someone is comfident enough to strut their stuff in one of those costumes, be my guest...

And yes, some regular anime and video game characters are worse...I've seen many a good Felicia cosplayer and to think I'm considering cosplaying as Lara Croft soon...*is a sucker for pretty weaponry* Besides, if Vash the Stampede can strip at a MetroCon, I think Hentai characters are perfectly at home anywhere at any con.

As long as you're not bareing all, I don't see why they would have a problem with it. There are a few Hentai Series, where I liked the costumes and looks of the characters. To bad those people couldn't put a little more energy into and make it an anime instead of porn. But, ah well. We all knwow what's part of the business in Anime. T_T*

Check on each con's rules if you plan to enter competition though. For example, the Anime Central Masquerade does not allow any costumes from "adults only" titles, no matter how decently you are covered. For hall cosplay, though, you only have to worry about the nudity rules.
