Hello there fellow cos/crossplayers!
I'm in quite the dilemma.
Megacon is in a mere 12 days, and I still have to make a cosplay for my friend.
We chose the simplest, easiest, dumbest thing that we could come up with. (Other than L, because we see him WAY too much)
We chose Kiki, from Kiki's Delivery Service!

As for my issue.
I'm not sure what kind of fabric to make this dress out of, nor which color. Should it be a very dark blue, or a black?
As for her 'look at me' bow, how should I go about making that?

Hmm, I think my screen must be funny but it looks more purple-ish to me. For fabric I would reccomend nothing too shiny. For the headband I think the easiest thing to do would be to first get a red headband, and then make a giant bow for it. There should be a tutorial somewhere on cosplay.com~

I think that the dress should be made of black material, because although it does not appear completely black, it is mentioned in the beginning of the movie that it is black.

@Emiey: What kind of material should I make it out of? Heavier or lighter stuff? (I live in Florida)

as a fellow floridian (naples) I understand how hot it gets so I would use a lighter material. tough the dress looks heavier. It depends on if u want your poor friend to suffer or if u want something comfertable

Probably about medium-weight. Nothing too heavy and not anything too light either. Go to the fabric store and feel some of the fabrics to get an idea of their weights and textures. Kiki's dress looks like it might me a little more textured.

Something matte. I think since you live in Florida, cotton would probably be good, but you might want to ask the people who work at the fabric store also.

More medium weight. Since it flaps in the wind when she's flying. Simply go to the fabric store, and kind of wave the fabric. If it has a nice effect with out being too heavy then its the one~

I'm still going to flap some of it around to test it.. I'll get weird looks from the older people. ^ ^ Not that i don't already. =D


Do you think I should cut it like this or like this?

I think I'm going to go with the first one, cause it'll fall better than the second one. And it gives more room for moving. (She's a tree climber)

@Benihime78 - The group that I'm going with consists of 4 people.
There's gonna be a Naruto Lolita, a very weird Deidara, Yuki Cross, and of course Kiki!

I think you should cut it more like the first one. In THIS trailer at 48 seconds when she is floating down, the shape of her dress become quite clear~
