This wig was made with a 1B/RedTL (red-tipped) Punky XL (well, two of them):
As you can see, it is still very obviously red, but it is not quite as bright as say, this:
This one is hand-colored.
It will still be an acceptable color. If you want, you could always use a black sharpie at the roots of the wig to make the contrast a little sharper between the roots and the red fiber. DO NOT USE PAINT ON YOUR WIG. You will not be able to brighten the ends of the wigs with a dye. The best way to do it is to darken the roots as I said before, to give the illusion that the tips are brighter.
Really, a Punky XL is too much fiber for Axel (you end up chopping off most of the ends), but getting a regular Punky in the 1B/RedTL is next to impossible (they're almost always out of stock). Don't worry, it'll be fine
