Hello~ I thought I drop by to see everyone, I have lerked everynow and then to see whats going on, though I am mostly over on the Left 4 Dead area.
My cosplay group and then some are doing 13 different characters from BlazBlue during A-kon 22 this summer. Currently I am working on my husband's costume, as I am being Carl Clover, he is being my "big sister" Nirvana (Ada). I also am helping out with make up for most of our group. I hope to post progress pictures up later.

Ugh, I've been trying to work on Ragna (the sword and his undershirt) and the sword is going good, slow but good. However, my sewing machine has taken the liberty to strike against me and try to EAT Ragna's shirt on a few occasions....Again, ugh...

Wheee!!!! Debuted Taokaka at Sac-Anime Winter this last weekend. I entered my first masquerade with her and won Best Craftsmanship in the Beginner Division!!!

I think I'll also be retiring her. She was painful to wear, and unless my buddy makes a Bang costume, I won't pull her out save for a photoshoot.

I'm so happy that Toneriko helped me style my Makoto wig. I did the blonde wefts in and then she teased the crap out of the bangs to get them to poof up ^^ I'm so happy I've finished Makoto completely and now I can focus on the rest of my group

We're rushing to get things finished. I'm actually going to have to finishe Lambda right before the con. Going down a week early to spend some cosplay sweatshop time iwth me friends. Just hate that she's taking me so long but then agian I guess that's because of lack of funds and stuff.

My friend who is doing Jin is over spending the night and we're gonna finish his cosplay, minus the wig. He is redoing his sword since he wasn't happy with it the first time and I'm making his boots.

Hurrah! time I jumped in!.I debuted the rough version of me as Hazama, I still have some minor tidbits to work on but with me on the verge of becoming unemployed I have more pressing matters to attend to. But Here is everything so far! I still need to reinforce the wonderflex I had on the tip of my shoes since it fell off after walking around for 8 hours + getting rained on.

Hey guys, i'm going to attempt to make Ragna's death scythe or his astral finish weapon. It will be detachable of course, i estimated the entire thing to be at least 6ft long (in proportion to my height). I would appreciate some input on what material i could use for the red energy blade. Something extremely light please.

Since it's an energy blade... do you want/need it to be translucent?

Acrylic would be heavy but look great; however perhaps you could build some sort of frame and stretch (well, lay) red acetate over it. It would be kinda delicate (depending on the thickness of the acetate I guess) but it would still have the translucent look.

If you don't need it to be clear, I think pine is a lightweight wood...? Not sure though, I never make props from wood.

I don't work well with wood either, only thing i used are wooden skewers and dowel bases XD

If translucency isn't considered I would suggest using Wonderflex , it's lightweight and can pretty much be made to fit to use for anything. That's just my preference for a lot of things but it can be an option. I can work well with wood but I feel maybe wonderflex could be the better of two evils.

The reason i don't want to use wonderflex is that it's not easily available in my country without paying a huge sum for shipping. There's also the factor of temperature, i'm from South East Asia where summer is all year round.

I'm looking at thin acrylic sheets suggested by a friend.

I can make everything else BUT the zipper and how to attach it on T_T
