It was playing at my work last night, and I walked in during my break and walked right-out when I heard it was English Dubbed.

I was amazed at the CG. I mean, I was blown away. It was nothing like Devilman live-action. I still can't believe that movie won awards. >_< Their CG work was not that great, and though they got the awards for props/make-up/monster effects it was STILL not that great.
The monsters in GANTZ was fantastically done. Gantz, itself, was damned cool. I was really surprised to feel uneasy during the suspenseful parts and rather touched by the normal, everyday parts. I didn't think I was going to like Kei because I'm not partial to him in the manga or anime. I actually liked him a lot here. And yeah, though I was impressed by the English dub, I wished it wasn't dubbed. There was no faults with the voice actors. They really tried their best to capture what's going on but I've always preferred subtitles no matter what language I'm watching, even in English. |

Because Greensboro, NC fails at the English language (East != West, morons), I ended up getting turned around three times and missing the first hour of it. But what I saw was pretty darned impressive. I loved how the Tanaka robots and the Buddha statues were done.
Funnily enough, I've read in several places that the studio has already been approached by Hollywood for re-make rights. Because they can't leave a good thing alone without "Americanizing" it, apparently.

^I completely agree about the Tanaka and Buddha aliens. I was really happy at how the Buddha part was so suspenseful.
Oh, yikes. *laughs* Have you seen the Americanized Guyver? Very early 90's, and I just shook my head in amazement. The Guyver suit though was awesome. |

Its a bit rare to mention this, but the way Kei & Katou got killed by the train was uber-wicked. We're all accustomed to the bloody intro from the anime and manga, and then their transition into Gantz. I liked how the film depicted its own interpretation of it. The english i just had to bear it, but yeah wish I heard it in Japanese. Nonetheless, its good to see Kei's pervertness still present. I thought they'd strip that out, knowing the series was so hentai-esque at times (even though its not hentai) Now sure, there are other things I could've wished for. Here it goes! - Giant Tanaka bird alien, and seeing the other Tanaka bird aliens (instead of one). Though nice twist, to show Kei getting injured at end of that fight. - Giant Stegosaurus alien at end of Buddha fight (which might have extended this movie 30 more min). - The pervert dog that licks Kishimoto's V@G----A Things I'm looking forward to in Gantz 2? - The Gantz sword's presence - Tae Kojima's role (that was an interesting twist, bringing her out so sudden) - AKIRA! - And the VAMPIRE GANGSTERS, which I thought I saw in the 2nd trailer... But in all, this visually kept me watching, and I shall await the 2nd Gantz movie, that so calls itself "Perfect Answer" It'll be fascinating if the manga finished, by the time Gantz 2 comes out. |

In all fairness, I think the manga is in "end game" mode. But it's entirely possible they'll drag it out for another 100 chapters or so. :P

That would suck. I hope they end it soon and not needlessly drag it out...I'm kind of scared that that's what's happening with MPD Psycho. >_<
