Pokemon Mascot Help

So I've been working on a Charmander mascot and while the body, hands and feet are taken care of, I'm not sure how to do the head.

Should I make it using a balaclava or will that be too small/how would I get it to work with such a plain pokemon?
Would all foam work or be too hot?

This is a costume I'll be wearing to a con, so I don't want to overheat.

Any suggestions?

My suggestion would be to look up tutorials for fursuit heads. You may not be using any fur, but the building of the base probably goes in the same direction. And...be prepared that you might need to find a cooling solution anyway (no matter what material you use). Most people I know experianced some heat when they used heads like this or masks.

Agreed^
Look up dragon mascot head tutorials. They will be the most similar (outside of looking to see if there are any actual Charmander tutorials).

As for the heat, most people use a small battery powered fan inside the head. But this will depend on how big you make the head..You might not have room depending how small you make it. Remember too, that no one is making you wear the head all day. Take it off a lot..You'll be happy you did..

I've looked up tutorials and I can make the head either way. I'm just not sure which people find to be better, all-foam or balaclava-based.

Oh, yea that I son't know..I guess it's all preference..I'm pretty sure foam is the common one..If you think you can do either, than it's all up to you. If you can, please feel free to drop some pics when you work on it. I'm sure I'm not the only on that would love to se this.
