Thanks for the update! If only I had a time-turner so that I could go to all of them!

Looking forward to the headpieces panel. So many wonderful panels, it will be hard to choose which ones to attend.

and even more news

Theatrical Costumer, Feather Tippetts, has offered to teach 3 workshops for CC27 that she can only do if enough students register in advance. (NOTE--These are the only workshops that will need advance registration.) Feather is available to teach on Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday, so we can schedule according to interest.

Please read the descriptions carefully. Each program requires participants to bring some of their own supplies (2 require a sewing machine). Each has a workshop fee payable to Feather at the workshop--CASH PREFERRED!

We must have at least 8 students pre-register by Saturday, APRIL 11th, for these workshops to be scheduled. Please email me (Sharon Landrum), saffronrose@verizon.net , to sign-up or if you have any questions.

Thank you,
Sharon Landrum
Co-programming director
(posted on her behalf)

Victorian Comfort Bustle Creation--3 hours, (Sewing machine required)
Create your own Bustle that is lightweight, packs flat for travel, gives when you are seated, yet can support anything from lightweight summer cotton to heavy wool! You can make it in plain cotton or cover it in silk taffeta with a ruffle to match your favorite corset.

--Workshop fee is $50.00, payable to the instructor in class, cash preferred. Kit includes cotton fabric, steel bones, boning tape, grommets, lacing, grosgrain tape, and a safety buckle.

--Students need to bring: Sewing machine, Ruler (see-thru is best), Tape measure, Fabric Shears, Water or Air-Soluble marking pen, one small spool of white Dressmaking Thread and Hand-sewing supplies (thimble, needles, embroidery scissors, seam ripper).

If you want to cover your bustle in Silk Taffeta (not polyester or acetate), please bring at 1 yard of 54" wide. Do not bring dupioni (too lumpy) or china silk (too lightweight). Do not forget Dressmaker thread to match your silk taffeta.

Regency Ostrich Egg Reticule--3.5 hours, (Sewing machine required)
Create your own unique Regency Reticule. The bottom half is an ostrich egg shell, decorated with delicate metal stampings in silver, bronze, or copper tones. The outer top is silk taffeta and the entire reticule is fabric lined. It opens and closes via a pair of drawstrings. A tassel is suspended from the bottom.

--Workshop fee is $50.00, payable to the instructor in class, cash preferred. Kit includes, 1/2 of a Premium Ostrich Egg, cleaned, sanitized, and pre-drilled for fabric attachment, Metal stampings (various designs and metal tones), Metal findings for securing stampings to the shell, Rosette for bottom of shell, Felting or batting to cushion interior, Ribbon for drawstring casing, Needles and Heavy-Duty Thread to attach fabric, 4" Turk's Head Tassel, Cording for drawstring.

--Students need to bring: Sewing machine, Ruler (see-thru is best), Fabric Shears,Needlenose Pliers (thin and long are best), and at least 1/2 yard of 54" wide SILK TAFFETA (Not polyester or acetate). Do not bring dupioni (too lumpy) or china silk (too lightweight). White or Creme are NOT recommended colors as they are too close to the color of the shell. Sewing machine thread to match silk taffeta, and Hand-Sewing supplies (thimble, needles, embroidery scissors, seam ripper). Glasses or Goggles are recommended.

Victorian Hairpieces Creation--2 hours
Love those elaborate Victorian Hairstyles but think your hair is too short? No time to put your long hair up into a fabulous Victorian do? This workshop will solve your problem! You'll create one or two hairpieces that you can quickly and easily attach to your hair at a moment's notice. You'll learn how to get that look you need for that finished Victorian touch and not worry about another "bad" Victorian Hair Day.

--Workshop fee is $20.00, payable to the instructor in class, cash preferred. Kit includes Needle, Heavy Duty Thread, and Wig Clips. Contact Instructor if you wish to purchase a canvas blockhead prior to the class ($40.00). Canvas blockheads are great as wig and hatstands and are superior to Styrofoam.

--Students need to bring: Two or Three Jumbo Kanekelon Hair Braids in a color that matches their hair and a wig stand (canvas blockhead or Styrofoam with table clamp), hand-sewing supplies (thimble, needles, embroidery scissors, seam ripper). Kanekelon Hair Braids are available at wig shops and Sally Beauty Supply Shops.

Now you're really making me sad that I'll be unable to attend this year. Sounds like you have some great panels there though. I'm sure I'll hear loads about them from others.

If that Fang panel is anything like the one from Dragon*Con, I am so there!

I'd love to see that appliance and prosthetics panel, especially if there's lifecasting.

I'd love to do one of the paid workshops, but no sewing machine for me. (Going by plane)

Trixy, there's no programming during any of the masquerades

the clamp refers to something to mount the wig head onto the table securely, so you can work on it. without it falling over

Ooh, sounds like a nice selection of panels. I'm sure I'll be attending a bunch of these.
