Whiskers from extension hair

I'm doing some major reworkings of my Felicia (of Darkstalkers) wig right now (shown here), including finally styling in her long, blue whiskers.

As you can see in the references below, her 'whiskers' are more like long ribbons that jut out of her hairline at the sides behind the ears. While I was originally thinking using ribbons might work, I was instead thinking of using extension hair.

The problem is, I'm not sure how to get the long, thin strips of extension hair to stick together in a ribbon-like fashion, AND then curl them to flow backwards once I sew them into the wig. I was considering laying the strips out straight together like one would do to make a weft and then brushing them down with glue (like an extension hair clip, sort of), but I was worried that then I wouldn't be able to curl and style them with the large, gentle curves I want them to fall back into once in the wig.

Does anyone have any other ideas on how to get these long, intact strips of extension hair, or should my idea work?

Thanks!
