So I search through the Tutorial list and couldn't find vocaloid headphones in a tutorial so i made one

-please just delete this if there already is one (which i didn't see one) or if its just unnecessary-

What you will need:
pink/blue insulator foam (i got blue)

• face mask very important, dont do anything without it please
• pink/blue insulator foam (i got blue)
• scissors
• paper
• paint
• gesso
• sand paper (or something similar)
• reference picture
• something to cut the insulator foam, i used a knife
• cosplay size calculator *optional* click here for site to download
• pen
• ruler

BEFORE YOU CONTINUE:

GO HERE and read it its has greater detail of insulator foam and different options you can use.

Before we start here is a kinda final product:
finished head piece i havent added the head band but when its done i will post it all up :3

step 1.) Take a piece of paper and make the pattern for your head set [x]

step 2.) Trace the pattern you made on to the back side of the foam (the side with writing) and trace with your pen on the foam

step 3.) Using the utensil of your choice, cut around the shape of your head piece on the foam [x]
step 4.) YUCKY! when I popped the pattern out of the foam, I got this: yucky
all you need to do is take your sand paper and smooth out the
edges. [x]
step 5.) take a brush and glop the gesso all over the foam, make sure to do more than one layer, i did about 4 i think [x]
step 6.) Let the Gesso dry and now you can paint! [x]
what i did was spend probably 30 minutes trying to match the colors then used the edge of a piece of paper (ruler or tape would be better) and held it where the two colors were to meet.
step 7.) let it dry and your done with the ear piece! [x]
*NOTE*
This is just a basic version, cleary the vocaloids have more detail but since mine is teto, hers isnt too detailed (i hope) so you can add more detail if you want :3

I would like to just point out that for an extra $70 you could also make this a fully functional unit for most mainstage audio systems by incorporating an XLR-3 microphone such as this one:

(The small black cylinder is the actual microphone; the silver piece is an adapter/preamp to connect the microphone's mini XLR cable to a stage XLR-3 cable.)

This would allow you to, with cooperation from the convention's tech staff, jack directly into their sound system.

Or, the way I did it - (although the way I measured it came out bad...)

You buy a really cheap headband - they used to sell cheap plastic ones, 2 for $1...
Get the green plant foam blocks - the kind that you stick fake plants in
And get some craft foam sheets - in whatever colors for your Vocaloid.

Cut the green foam into the shape of the headphone - I could cut the green foam with a butterknife (I'm scared of knives. :X ) but any kind of sharp object would work - I suggest cutting a pattern out of paper and laying it on top / trace it. Also, make it as thick as you want your headphones.

Then, cut out one long strip of craft foam to glue to the side of the green foam, along with 2 faces to glue to the front and back of the green foam - I suggest gluing with hot glue - liquid glues are kind of messy...

Then, just add your details and glue onto your headband.

If anyone is still looking for help, there are 3 or 4 other tutorials for headsets on the site, though all predate the tutorials forum. 2 of them are linked in the thread in my sig. Both have the mouthpieces/headbands included that were requested. The VOCALOID forum is also a good place to run a search.

There are some good video tutorials on youtube, too.
